Topic: How many players have played for Liverpool FC?

Just something I thought of when I saw this image on Twitter:



At first when I saw it (from the left) I thought it may have been the chronological number of their first appearance or something (then I saw Jordan Rossiter, and I KNOW he wasn't the first guy to ever play for us!).  Now I know it's likely to be a major task to do but I wondered whether there was any interest in finding out how many people have played for the first-team in total, and in what order they made their appearance?  I understand it's a massive task for people to undertake but I thought if people were interested it could be a good waste of time, so to speak.  Perhaps we could build a database of a player's first appearance in the team in something like Excel.

I'll have a play about, see if I can find anything.  Knew about the site (and used it on occasion) but my mind had died on its backside a bit.  I was thinking of the system in something like cricket where the players wear the chronological number in which they made their debut.  And if they made their debut on the same day as another, it goes alphabetically.

I can see my Christmas being used tremendously wasted!

Why not check the history site for appearences? Should be easier.

I've never used one, but you should be able to use something like this web scraper app for Chrome:  https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/web-scraper/jnhgnonknehpejjnehehllkliplmbmhn?hl=en

To scrape the players' names and debut appearance dates from their lfchistory pages, put them into text or csv for input into a spreadsheet.
