I couldn't even hazard a guess :(

Guess it all depends on Sturridge. Which is sad.

On current form

I think we can't afford to lose many points in these 5 games.Even if our form improves later in the season it will be very difficult to catch up.
We need results before it's too late.

13. 4 wins and a draw. Studge is back. Shit will click.

So that's 7 points, I'll be very surprised if we get more than that.

This is what I expect:

Palace 3
Stoke 3
Leicester 3
Sunderland 3
United -

That's 12 points. At least. How many do I think we'll get? Half, based on our current form. But let's take one game at a time. We need 12+ points from the next five.

  • We've conquered all of Europe...
Somewhat surprisingly, given our very poor form, we are only 6 points down from corresponding fixtures last year.  We improved our result against Southampton, matched last season's return against City, Spurs, West Brom, Swansea & Chelsea and QPR if you match them up with Norwich and are worse off in our corresponding fixtures with Villa, West Ham, Everton, Hull & Newcastle giving us a -6 return.

The problem that we have is the next 5 matches represented 15 points (with Leicester replacing Fulham) so the very best that we can do is still be -6 down on last year.  I think that's a bit unrealistic given our lack of goals and our inability to keep clean sheets so would anticipate us being around -12 down by the end of the round.  That's a trend that can't be allowed to continue if we are to go after CL.

It's obviously all about the next game but the way we're playing at the moment, even with Sturridge returning, I just can't see us getting anything from Selhurst Park. We used to always know how these games would go, we'd get totally outfought, before eventually conceding, usually from a septpiece, we'd then start to attack more and look more of a threat, before ultimately losing 2-0. Brendan seemed to have changed that routine last season but right now, I can't see anything but another repeat of those predictably depressing away performances.

14 pts from 11 games, to reach top 4 we'd need to be averaging around 20 pts from these games.

After 16 games, you would hope we can make a bit of ground and possibly be close to the 28 - 30 pt mark. 19 games being the midway point 35 points would be the target for top 4 this season.

To reach these targets we need to gain at least 11 pts from these games.

Crystal Palace (A) draw/win
Stoke  (H) draw/win
Leicester (A) win
Sunderland (H) win
Man Utd (A) loss/draw

4 points from the first two, wins against the next two leaves us on 10 with United being a 6 pointer for top 4.

What is starting to look a cert is that we'll need to go on title winning form at some stage this season to make up for our start, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Its crazy to see how every top team like Arsenal, Man u, Tottenham, Everton, and City are in poor poor form since the start of the season. This leaves the gap open for teams like west ham and southampton to fight for champions league places. Thats gonna be a shocker seeing southampton in europe.

Need to get back on track.

Some serious serious needs to go on behind the scenes in the next couple weeks. So when we come back:

Crystal Palace (A)
Stoke  (H)
Leicester (A)
Sunderland (H)
Man Utd (A)

1 draw I can see in that run, either to Leicester or United. The rest wins. FUCK YOU PREMIER LEAGUE!

Time to get our balls back  :wanker

But if we continue as we have done I see about 2 wins (Sunderland, Palace) and a draw (Stoke) , then 2 losses (United, Leicester). <------ but THAT will not happen

While there is nothing wrong with your point, I hardly think anybody is hoping to match last seasons' total points tally at this stage. We need to get back to the target of 2 PPG (10 pts every block of 5) which we stuck to really well taking out the week we lost to City and Chelsea consecutively and the crazy run we went on. Seems like a million years ago now this thread was full of cries of 15 which the team duly delivered.

Focus on getting ten in the next few sets, then look to build on to catch up on any remaining lost ground which is not necessarily required if other teams don't sort their shit out.

I think we have good chances to get maximum points out of the next 5. All of them are winnable games and if we really manage to win 4 in a row, we surely would beat ManUtd too. Realistically, I would be really happy with 12 points and happy with 10 points.

A loss at Palace and a draw w/ Stoke w/ Sturridge to start the run will put unreal pressure on BR.  We really need to win two games to start this off.

Sadly, I'm genuinely expecting Sturridge to get hurt again this season.  It's just that kind of year so far.

Where is the Doc?

At least Sturridge won't need convincing. He seems like a confident lad who will relish this chance to prove that last season was as much about him as Suarez.

hard to say how many pts we will get from those games but does anyone have an idea who our rivals are playing in those weekends that we are?no point in comparing it to last season, all the sides competing for 4th are playing as shite as us,look at city and arsenal ffs, shocking stuff and theyre supposed to be challenging for the title, whereas we are just going for 4th(according to the experts!!!),so no matter how many points we get it could well be that we closer to that 4th spotby virtue of our rivals slipping up.regardless,i expect us to get a minimum of 10 pts, surprised many of you have us to either draw or lose to the mancs...

Well I had us down for 15 from the last 5 .... based on Daniel's return. I think we might have too but .... Daniel didn't return.

Now Daniel should return, shouldn't he ?

With Sturridge in situ ...

Palace - 1
Stoke - 3
Leicester - 3
Sunderland - 3
Manure - 1

Crystal Palace (A) 0
Stoke  (H) 3
Leicester (A) 1
Sunderland (H) 3
Man Utd (A) 0

So that's 7 points, I'll be very surprised if we get more than that.

This. The mancs are playing worse than us but probably beat us with the home factor.

We will struggle with palace aswell like we did last season.

I'm assuming this is an emotive reaction after losing to Chelsea.  Personally, if it plays out like above I think the season is in jeopardy.

The next 6 games are huge for me.  That's the next 4 league games and 2 CL games.  Between 23rd November & 9th December.

It's an opportunity for us to get the season back on track.  Winning all 6 games is a huge challenge but with Sturridge returning we are in a better position.

The season is in Jeopardy now mate. If the next 5 games yield less than 9 points then we move from jeopardy, to shit creek.
13mins - Bournemouth have gone home. Utd kicked off anyway. Still 0-0 as Smalling passes it back to De Gea.

Based on what's happened so far this season (same formation every game, refusal to address some key issues) I'm guessing it'll be something like:

Crystal Palace (A) 1
Stoke  (H) 3
Leicester (A) 0
Sunderland (H) 3
Man Utd (A) 0

It's the league mainly.  We need to start getting results.  I'd take dropping into the EL if it meant we got back into the top 4 by the end of the season.

In fact, I think the EL would be a good experience for this current Liverpool team.

If it was played on the same nights as CL then I'd take it all day long now, but history tells us that playing Thurs/Sunday does not go hand in hand with finishing in the top 4.

I think we needed 'experience' before we had a go in the CL, and it's coming home to roost now. I'll be really honest mate, I don't know whether I'd rather finish 3rd, or 4th if we don't get through. I think the EL would be more trouble than it's worth unless we think we're going to win it. And it pains me to say that being 'old school'.
 :)

Palace will not be easy, at all. Stoke have just won at Spurs, Leicester have decent form at home and could go either way, Utd are no better than us, but home advantage could make the difference, the only game you couldn't make excuses for is the Sunderland one.
Honestly, I can see as few as 3/4 points, but flip the coin and I can also see 10-12.

Crystal Palace (A) 3 - Palace not the same at home under Warnock (hope we don't have one eye on Ludogorets).
Stoke  (H) 3 - I can't not predict 3 points against Stoke at home on my first post.......
Leicester (A) 3 - Tough game but can see a similar result to QPR away.
Sunderland (H) 3 - Momentum continued?????

Big four games against sides that rightly or wrongly we would expect to beat.  I would be happy with 9/10 points but I have faith that BR will start to turn the ship.

Man Utd (A) 1 - Impossible to predict at this stage with unknowns such as injuries, CL performanes/ progress and both sides form in forthcoming PL fixtures.  Under most circumstances though I will be content with a point away at one of our direct rivals.
