This guy is going to be good, just look at this leaning - he throws himself in to it and really goes for it. Doesn't settle with the traditional chest height arm lean, but raises it up to shoulder height.

First class.

That there, is a top, top lean. Going to be a smash hit for us.

Alberto Moreno is ready to challenge for a place in the Liverpool starting line-up straight away, but knows he still has more work to do to fulfil his vast potential, according to Brendan Rodgers.

The Spaniard sealed a switch to Merseyside from Sevilla by penning a long-term deal on Saturday to become the Reds' eighth signing of the summer so far.

Rodgers admits Liverpool have kept tabs on Moreno for a while and is confident the 22-year-old can stake his claim immediately.

The boss told Liverpoolfc.com: "Alberto is a player with huge potential, but importantly he is also ready to come in and contribute straight away.

"He is quick, strong and serves the ball really well.

"We have monitored him in Spain for some time and every time I have seen him I have been greatly impressed.

"What is also important is that he is hungry to improve and recognises it is vital to keep learning."
Not sure how that's going to help on the pitch, but if Brendan likes him for it I'm all in!

Ah, Riera wasn't too bad. He wasn't amazing but I don't think anyone expected him light the league on fire.

Giggity.

True, I actually quite liked him at first.  If I remember right, we were desperate for someone in that position at the time.  Kinda went off the rails eventually though.  Still, I'm sure Moreno will be a world-beater...

Feels a bit retro, signing up Spaniards - it's like the mid naughties.  Hope he's more Xabi than Riera.
Riera was a good enough signing though. A vital cog in our title chasing season.

Delighted we've got in another first choice target, feels like we're certainly nailing that aspect this summer. It'll be nice to have a genuine attacking threat at LB who actually has a fully functioning brain and will only improve under Rodgers, exciting times! Not been impressed by my youtube scouting of him but he clearly has a lot of promise and I've no doubt Brendan will get the absolute best out of him, and given how highly his potential is rated, that's an exciting thought!

Lets see just how much of a difference competent fullbacks with an attacking mentality makes to our attacking game!

I think this signing could be the start of the end for Mr Johnson.

Having quality cover in both full back berths could see Johnson edged out this season - Unless he gets his head into gear

That goal against Villa in the 5-0 romp was a thing of beauty... Reina > Riera > cross bar > in.
That's one of the goals I remember him for.
A signing that was just right for us at that moment, because we were crying out for real width for years before and since. He gave us that width and was a great outlet for Xabi in particular. Like Guillem said before his singing- he can be as good as any world-class plaer on his day, but can stink up the place on his off-day. ;D

Anyway, I think Moreno can be a lot more consistent if he realises his potential.

It seems BR and Ayre have some sort of magical transfer horseshoe up their arses. . . .
Thats 8 first choice targets brought in before a ball is kicked.
Well in lads.
Love seeing this kid on the ball and there is no better place than Anfield/Melwood in the tender hands of Rodgers for his development into a world beater.
Moreno joins the likes of JAR and Arby, as a skillful overlapping LB,  make it yours kid.

You know, we can justly slate Aspas' footballing contributions as much as we want - but wasn't it he who started the whole leaning tradition in the first place? Without Iago, that photo might have depicted Moreno simply standing in front of that railing, perpendicular to the floor.

It most certainly wasn't Aspas. For example Toure was here earlier than Aspas last summer and was already showing off his ultimate leaning skills then:

A CB has to lean both ways... like Kolo...

A LB leans to his left mostly.

I wonder if we have any RB leaning photos... likely leaning on their right I guess.

Wow, I'd never seen that one...it's on an entirely different level from all of the others. The acrobatic, in-no-way-would-anyone-actually-lean-like-this nature of it. The narrow depth of field of the camera lens. The way hand grips forearm as though it were a 2-seam fastball. The facial expression that says "the mushrooms have just started to kick in, and there's something very interesting just a smidge to the left of the camera." Amazing.

Shows how much Kolo has to teach our young players, including Moreno. We should keep him around for one more year.
