Haha fuck off Madrid :D Delighted we seem to have stuck the finger up to the horrible c*nts. Go boo Ronaldo some more.

The Ronaldo return or Bale signing will probably have to wait now until Perez is dead.

I'm a bit slow on this.

You negotiated to sell. Had a deal done. But the paperwork was late..and Man Utd knew full well the deadline.

So how is all that sticking two fingers up to Madrid?

Perhaps in protest at his treatment De Gea will wear Green and Gold until he's sold. For the first month or two anyway.

All DDG has to do is go back to training and pick a fight with vG and he won't be chosen as the starter.

This De Gea thing is going to get interesting now.

If van Gaal wouldn't play him in the first few games of the season because he was too "distracted," how does he play him now?  Because you know that de Gea is going to believe Real Madrid 100% when they say it's United's fault that the transfer didn't go through.  It doesn't matter whose fault it really was because in his mind it will be a ploy from United to keep him for an extra year while pretending to try to agree to ship him out.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised at all to see him refuse to play for the club again and sign a pre-contract to move to Madrid on a free in January.  Or he could forgive and forget and help United to a top four finish.  It could really go either way, but right now, you know he's got to be quite upset at Woodward and van Gaal, probably not speaking to them.  I'd be shocked if he's in their lineup before October.  Gonna be interesting to see which way it ultimately goes.

Plenty of players push for a move and then line out for their club when it doesn't happen. De Gea didn't even hand in a transfer request. I think he will play

Actually quite annoying we have to wait so long to play them. He might have got his head back in order by the time we play them. Had it been this weekend he might have stuck with Romero.

Manchester United made an attempt to get Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund when negotiating Adnan Januzaj's loan to the Bundesliga side but were put off by the player's £60 million valuation, club sources have told ESPN FC.

United manager Louis van Gaal had been insistent on adding another forward player before Tuesday's deadline, on top of Monaco's Anthony Martial, and the Premier League side broached the idea of bringing in Reus when letting Januzaj go.

Dortmund were not totally resistant to the sale, and quoted United a price of £60m to begin discussions, but the Old Trafford club were only willing to go as far as £50m.

United are set to pay a reported fee of £36m for Martial, with sources telling ESPN FC that Monaco upped their price for the 19-year-old by £15m because they knew that United were eager to add a forward as Wayne Rooney remains the only senior striker in their squad.

That's the dream but sadly it won't happen as it benefits no one. The best thing for all parties is for de Gea to get back to starting games, help the mancs for a season while ensuring he doesn't sit on the sidelines getting rusty, and then move for free next summer.

According to Spanish journalists close to De Gea, David was having a complete nightmare this summer because of the way Van Gaal has played hard ball the whole time, to the point that the coach even told the media that De Gea didn't want to train which is alledgely false. Go imagine how he feels right now that the move didn't happen. His mind will be affected during weeks or maybe months. Money-wise, if I was a Manchester United shareholder I wouldn't be too happy about losing 20 million euros plus a world class goalkeeper like Navas, and from the sports point of view it's doesn't seem the best of moves either.

As I posted earlier, you could make a strong case for constructive dismissal. If he does De Gea could tear up his United contract, become a free agent and sign for any club outside of the transfer window. United would get nothing.

No player particularly wants to go there, but if De Gea gets farmed out to the under-21s he could be forced to. And Van Gaal has given him all that he needs to go that route.

RMC have posted details of the Martial deal. €80m confirmed. If RMC report it, I assume it's fact. They're the most reliable outlet worldwide.

Where is the source of this information? I can only see it on red cafe or reddit (in English) with no link to an original source.

The latest article on RMC re Martial states (€60m + €20m). Posted at 17:48 (French time):
http://rmcsport.bfmtv.com/football/mercato-comment-monaco-a-vecu-le-transfert-de-martial-911398.html

I can't see this info on their site and it sounds ridiculous. I'm not saying it isn't correct, but you are sure you are not being trolled by a manc reddit post?

De Gea won't be frozen out. They purposefully fucked up this transfer to ensure he stays. It'll just be like Suarez post the Arsenal flirtations. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he signs a contract with a buy-out clause just like Suarez did, so Utd ensure they make a bit of money, and De Gea gets a pay day for staying the season.

The only question is whether this affects him mentally. It did the opposite with Suarez. When Ronaldo was initially denied a move to Madrid, his form didn't drop either. Only case I can think of in recent times where a player's form DID drop, is Sterling during the City flirtations.

I have a feeling this whole saga won't make much of a difference to anything, other than highlighting in front of the world that Utd are no longer in the top echelon of clubs aka Real/Barca/Bayern. Even PSG, Chelsea and City have a stronger pull factor than them now, and are routinely embarrassing them in the transfer market.

It's another sign that they have the potential of becoming what we did in the early 90s.

Would be amusing if he picked up an injury and was benched for most of the season anyway. Very amusing.
