This is when we find out if competition for no.1 has had a positive effect on migs.
Or whether Karius responds to being dropped like Mignolet did when Brad Jones came in for him.

Big decision. Can't see Karius being first pick for a long time now. Swapping keepers a lot does no good

Larousse had had several poor games in a row and it's the right call to sit him for a while. I'm sure he'll become a very good keeper, but it does neither him nor the team any good to have a player low on confidence in the team. Good luck, Mignolet.

Quality save in the first half. No offence to Karius but it's been quite a while since we've had that.

Good save in the first half, to be fair he didn't have much to do in the 2nd. Looked decent though.

I just think the fact that he can catch the ball rather than constantly punching it makes a massive difference and takes away any momentum the opposition side might be able to build from keeping the ball in play.

I mean he's not gonna be here long-term is he but he's the more competent GK right now and did well today.

Didn't have much to do but did well when required.

The save at his near post didn't get the credit it deserved.

Did quite well to be honest. His play on the ball is never going to be as polished as Karius but he doesn't spill the ball and there were a couple of occasions where that might have been a problem, but Migs held on to the ball. Well done on his return to the team.

He's a decent keeper. Not as bad as people make out.

Arguably, he shouldn't have been dropped.

He should, and he should again.

If Karius is seen as the future, he should play. But can't argue with the decision to take him out of the firing line for the time being.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

At some point, yeah.

Unless he suddenly becomes a different keeper. Karius was signed to be number one, we have to stick with that at some point again in the future.

karius needs time and he has a huge job in front of him and its going to take a huge amount of charachter to get himself on track but credit to klopp.
He has recognised the situation, also pulled him from the limelight but for a manager to change "his man" straight away takes balls. 100% of the time managers are stubborn and just stick with it trying to prove a point hoping it comes good but fair play to klopp he has shown he has surprised me but with the right decision for now.

Nah, i don't think he will be dropped as long as he's playing well. And he won't be dropped after a single costly mistake either. That will be a huge gamble by Klopp that may backfire.

Also I don't see us going after a first choice goalkeeper in the market when we just brought Karius this summer for that purpose, his confidence will be shot even more.
