Think they'll be a big threat next season if they can bring in Havertz and a keeper and a new manager. Going to be a tough but interesting title defence next season!

Fixed it for you.

Well done on a miraculous season and what genius management from Lampard by coming 4th, losing more games than last season and winning fuck all for the first time in a few years.

You’d think the manager was English or something.....

One 4th place finish and you give it the big un, try winning a trophy frank.
Hey, hey, don't be disrespectful now! Frank has got a 4th place medal and a CL Group Achievement Award is within reach.

Congrats! Good job today.

Laughable how some in the media had him up for manager of the year.

Good discussion on the transfer ban on the last page.  They got Pulisic and Kovacic in that time right?

It is indeed weird to hear all about the plucky underdog thing.  All this young English manager with young English talent.  They love Abraham, Mount, Hudson-Odoi, and all their young talent so much that they've signed Pulisic, Ziyech, and Werner (for about 140 million?) and are looking to sign Havertz.  Frank's coaching staff are working so hard to improve their players that they're going to bin off the world's most-expensive goalkeeper after just 2 years (and just one year of Lampard working with him).  Isn't the point of changing managers to improve performances?  Of course you need investment, but if you're going to throw hundreds of millions of pounds at a manager, you might as well get a successful one.

Mourinho won the league his first year at Chelsea with 95 points (Ranieri couldn't win the title before).  Ancelotti won the league in his first year at Chelsea with over 100 goals scored (took over after misadventures post-Mourinho).  Conte won the league in his first year at Chelsea with 93 points (post-Mourinho hangover).

Chelsea's success has been built on spending incredible amounts of money to have a world-class squad and then hiring a top-class manager to get them over the line in style before falling out with said manager.

It's only because of Lampard that they get so hyped.  In reality, Chelsea don't care about nurturing young talent and young managers.  Never have done.

The funniest part of this is that Chelsea's season still isnt over and they have another humiliation coming vs Bayern.

For a contender for manager of the year, fat frank's team dont half get some hammerings.

Imagine being in their position, 3-0 down , league season over, just lost the cup final, going away to the best team left in the competition.

How do you approach a game like that.. Had they won today theyd go there on a high and playing with no pressure, now its a complete lose-lose situation.

Heard so much bullshit about how Giroud is so brilliant and underrated, every analyser said hed be a key player today, today showed why he is and always will be a bang average center forward. If you want to see where the game was won look at the 2 main strikers in the game.
Some people even said Arsenal selling him was another big mistake, and look who leads our line now.

Frank has done a great job.

Finished 4th, last season they were 3rd.

Had more losses, worse goal difference, and less wins.

They won the Europa League last season, lost in the League Cup final. ( may or may not win the FA Cup this season)

Chelsea sacked the other manager after one season. Frank gets plaudits.

So no Cup then..

I dare say Willian won't be playing any part in Munich.  I think he's got the same bad back problem that Coutinho had.

As it stands Willian is a soon-to-be 32-year old (next week!) without a club for next season.  I doubt seeing Pedro stretchered off will have motivated him to pull on a Chelsea shirt for one last drubbing.

Glad they lost since Lampard's behaviour after the game the other week. The entitled brat. He's won nothing as a manager, whereas the coaches he was ranting at have won 4 in 13 months. His playing achievements are not relevant.

I saw Barkley do his usual act of trying to snap someone because they're losing, he never seems to get pulled up on it though.

Can't see them challenging next season. They've bought their way to success before but they always had a quality manager in place and often had a ton of winners already in the squad. With all of these new signings I think we'll see some of those experienced heads leave and their results will be very up and down again.

One summer transfer ban and lampard is being talked up as if he managed a bunch of minnows and overachieved. They finished 3rd and won the EL just over 12 months ago.

Exactly.  Frank’s done a miraculous job to keep them in with a chance right up to the final whistle.  Against the odds.  Down to nine men.  All those injuries.  Having to bring on Barkley.

It was lovely to see them running out of road like that, but it really annoyed me to see Timo Werner sitting there watching it.  He should be getting ready for a genuine shot at the European Cup next week, not preparing for a meaningless season with another meaningless club.  The equivalent of that time Martin O’Neill played the kids for Villa in the Uefa Cup knockouts, so he could concentrate on qualifying for next year’s Uefa Cup instead.

They are light years behind liverpool, the minute Pulisic went off I knew wed won it, I genuinely looked at their team and could not see them scoring.

Giroud not good enough, Mount maybe in the future, Pedro is done, Reece james who, Kovacic and Jorginho pass not shoot. I thought their best chance of a goal was Alonso and only worried when he went forward.

We had far more fire power, I kind of get why they are investing in attackers, but they have 2 shite keepers and no defence.

Had we hired Arteta from day one wed have finished above them.

What made you smile? Lampard giving it to Klopp and his bench during the 5-3 defeat. Frank comes across as a nice guy in the media, but that moment highlighted the passion and aggression of a born winner. A close second was seeing Mourinho and Spurs celebrating Europa League qualification.

Are you happy with Arteta then? I think you need a good sporting director because  I might be wrong but I doubt Arteta has the vast knowledge needed for recruitment etc.

Arteta is the best thing to happen to Arsenal for over a decade, and that would be the case even if we lost yesterday. He got the players showing fight, commitment, belief. All the things that we have lost years ago. And he has had some very good game plans and in game management to get us through tough situations, including going a goal down against a better team in a final.
Physically we look a different football club, normally itll be us passing the ball into the chelsea net playing tiki taka for 10 minutes, then getting bullied by a top striker, an arrogant goalie, a team adept at time wasting and shithousery, and then we blame the ref as the opposition picks up another trophy, then people tell us we are soft, have no leaders, and get bullied too easily....not anymore.

As for recruitment, I doubt there is money for more than one player this summer, so its not an urgent situation.

Agree with this...

Although you still look fragile, there is clearly a plan. And arsenal haven’t looked like they have had a plan for ages...
