Looks the part there does Pattinson.

There's a definite chance of Batman fatigue setting in if they don't do some interesting stuff with this iteration but that tiny sample is enough to make me hopeful they will do.

There's so many different iterations of the character there's really no excuse for the studio churning out some paint by number stuff with him.

Given the work he's been doing lately the fact that Pattinson even bothered to sign on is encouraging, he doesnt seem to be here for the mundane movie star shit.

Yeah I think this'll be quality, the cast is excellent.  Not sure about the collar on the suit though, thought they really nailed the look with Affleck's batsuit.

Yeah, I've never been a fan of Tactical Armour Man. Batman is not supposed to be bullet proof - he's supposed to be agile enough to not get shot at.

Quiet in here regarding "Birds of Prey".

Went to see it last night and quite enjoyed the ride

Felt the director went for an early Guy Ritchie type movie in that it was a comedy caper for adults and it kinda worked.  Stolen Diamonds being chased around town, Freeze frame to introduce characters with Titles splashing the screen describing who and what they were. Voice over walking you through the story etc.  Think Snatch and Lockstock.

Thought Harley's "Noo Yoik" accent was a little bit over egged but maybe that was intentional.  No biggie though.

I though the first half was dog shit and the second half was pretty great.

Can't wait to be honest. If it's shite then fair enough but I'd rather see the Director's vision instead of a mess of a film which has had a ton of studio interference.

Yep, I posted pretty much the same thing the other day.  I mean, let's be honest, it's never going to be worse than the Justice League we actually got. What it does have going against it if some stuff was simply not shot and it ends up awkwardly worked around like the Donner cut of Superman II.

Apparently he's got 20-30m to finish off a bunch of stuff and he's getting some actors back too. Fucking madness.

Iím actually really looking forward to this. Iím in the minority who actually really liked MoS and BvS (extended version), so having the proper third part in that trilogy is a massive bonus.

It is such a shame the DCEU didnít work out but WB had enough wins recently with DC to not make it a complete bust (Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Joker)

Yeah the only version of BvS I saw was the extended version and I thought it was good, I'm gutted we won't get to see that particular version of Batman with his own movie.

Michael Keaton apparently in talks to return as Bruce Wayne in the Flash film, which will explore the multiverse concept. Not been into the DC movies recently but this has my attention.

Anyone a fan of the Gotham Central comic book series? HBO Max (new streaming service from Warner Bros) has just announced it's ordered a series about Gotham City Police Department, set in the same universe as the new Batman film. Matt Reeves is exec producing it.

If you've not read the comics, you should. Think it's absolutely brilliant. It's really gritty and focuses on the police trying to do their jobs in a world where superheroes and supervillains exist. Batman's featured in it, but in the shadows.

Would be really cool to have some of the villains in the new movie (Colin Farrell as Penguin, Paul Dano as Riddler, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman) also appear in the TV show.

Obviously there was a show recently about Gotham, but that was really far removed from what this show should be.

Ben Affleck returning as Batman in the Flash movie.

Surprised they didnít keep that as a surprise for DC Fandome, which is on Saturday. Getting a first look at the Reeves Batman film then too.

It takes them a bit longer because they have to make a whole movie, butcher it and rip a bunch of random pieces out, then stick all of the rest back together.

Looks incredible. Really, really dark - but I trust Reeves to pull it off. Seen someone compare it to Seven and it has that vibe, which really works for Batman.

Reeves said during the panel that this is set during Batmanís second year.

Also said that the Gotham Central show (the HBO Max TV show) is set during year one, so a prequel, and told from the POV of a corrupt cop.

Colin Farrell - as Penguin - barely recognisable in this btw:

Can you explain this reference?

I wasn't really looking forward to this, but Reeves has a lot of credit for me from the Apes movies, and it looks great.

And Darkseid as well.

I'm curious to see the difference between what Whedon did and what Snyder brings. But I dont want to ultimately make a direct comparison because the 'Snyder cut' wont just be a re-edited version of Justice League with a few deleted scenes added.  It's been brought together through the eyes of the criticism of the initial release.

The rest of the event was everything wrong with DC today. A bunch of great casts and everything a comic book fan wants to see in terms of Characters and style. But each film lands on its own. There is no cohesion. There is no Kevin Feige to guide the process through a phased route. Snyder is running the Arkham Asylum.

I mean right now we have 2 Batman time lines with Affleck, Patterson (and possibly Keaton), 2 Joker time lines (where one is on it's own separate timeline). James Gunn has basically thrown 20 darts at the DC archive and made a film as a (at the time) fuck you to Marvel (and now has nothing to lose as he's going straight back to Marvel as soon as press is done).

2021 is going to be a very stacked year before you even bring in the DC vs Marvel. There's excitement right now, but how long that lasts is going to make or break for them

Why does everything have to fit into a shared universe? Much better to keep Batman out of it all. Same with Blade on the Marvel side.

Totally, yes the MCU has been a phenomenal success and hats off to Marvel/Disney for doing that. DC/WB tried to replicate and it didnít work.

However what theyíre doing now interests me far more. Since 2016 when they really ramped up the shared universe and had two failures on their hands with BvS and Suicide Squad, theyíve had way more hits than failures concentrating on giving films individual identities instead of trying to fit them into the same mould.

They can now go really dark with Batman, super cheesy with Aquaman, comedic with the Flash without worrying about them fitting together. I loved the Joker film last year but I donít want a sequel nor do I see it necessary to bring him into Pattinsons Batman universe. I think Afflecks Batman is just being brought back to tie up that loose end and write him out within the Flashpoint storyline.

I see them green lighting the Snyder Cut as their way of drawing a line under his trilogy and then moving on
