I would prefer to celebrate the death of an ideology rather than the death of a person RIP.

Don't know the validity of this but apparently the Ding Dong song you need to buy is the Ella Fitzgerald version as the other one is too short (munchkins you see) to qualify for the official charts. I'm sure the word will spread but that seems to be the case anyway.

Evil fuckers - In the remote chance there is a hell, that both of these horrible bastards roast there for an eternity.

Thatcher and Reagan are probably the most over-rated politicians in Western history. Reagan in particular has been subject to a ridiculous amount of adoration in the wake of his presidency and later death, whilst Thatcher is widely heralded for her conviction, despite the huge amount of people who hold her in such low regard.

They were so keen to 'spread' democracy in parts of the world which were ruled by those who differed from them ideologically, whilst allowing murderous rightwing dictators feed off them. It is despicable hypocrisy which to this day remains largely unnoticed. Reagan is so often referred to as a champion of liberty for his stance on the USSR, but so little is said of the ruined lives that plague the former Soviet nations. If they had stayed the fuck out of it, the Soviet Union would have toppled itself gradually.

Two of the most despicable individuals I've ever been unfortunate enough to hear of. Their existences make me sort of lament the lack of a real Hell for them to go to.
"My idea was to build Liverpool into a bastion of invincibility. Napoleon had that idea and he conquered the bloody world! And that's what I wanted; for Liverpool to be untouchable. My idea was to build Liverpool up and up and up until eventually everyone would have to submit and give in."

Rot in Piss?
Yeh I know, thought I would feel different but seems all the more human now, and well, if her policies were so abhorrent, seems odd to celebrate a death whilst championing those same socialist beliefs. Not trying to be argumentative at all, and not sure if I can get my head around what I think myself.

Devil? No. Courageous first female PM? Yes. Policies that divided and destroyed lives?

Bout sums it up. Oh yes, I'll be celebrating when those cnts Ingram and Kelvins go more.

Watched that, I'm getting all swept up dead thatcher fever. It was very good.

She played Marshall music at the beginning of press conferences, what an absolute lunatic and fantasist. In summoning up the ghost of Churchill she was a witting monumental bubbling fuck up really, there was no craft in the damage she caused.

Had to laugh at a few of the old boys in it, they were like cartoon characters of how you would imagine a Thatcher supporter would look, act and talk. Everyone one of them caught up in an imagined reality of what Britain was and what they perceived it used to be.

"Britain is the moral leader of the world" an insulting joke.

I enjoyed the copper, he plays a nice part as the type of poor delusional fool who bought into the sinister nationalistic aspect of her reign.

I remember the shipyards being closed down.

I remember the steel works being closed down.

I remember the coal mines being closed down - and now we import coal and gas at a substantial expense!

I find it amazing that the press do not remember the cost of right-wing ideology upon the general population.

I remember the Toxteth riots as well as the others around the country.

I remember the desperation of being unemployed when my my bike had a flat tire.

I remember callousness due to political expediency.

I remember a lack of safeguarding.

I remember 'yuppies' and their celebratory Champagne and buying a brand new Porshe.

I remember a loss of community.

I do acknowledge Margaret Thatcher's achievements in international poltics, but I do not condone her wreckless acts of ill considered opacification in real terms and their effects on people's lives in our communities around Britain.

Poll tax says it all really http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poll_Tax_Riots, enough was enough http://www.thefreedictionary.com/poll+tax.

I remember free milk in school being stopped.

I remember that I had never tasted Champagne as I could not afford it.

I remember I never bought a Porshe because I could not afford it.

I remember my mum trying to persuade an obstinate elderly shop assistant to sell her the half loaf behind the counter at half price at Park Station in Birkenhead and she said, 'No, no, no - I will lose my job if I do!'.

I remember we did not get our buttered toast that day as a kid.

I remember that Britain was about community and not purely about moneterism.

I know that we are sufferring due to privatisation, I know that this is because of a lack of control.

Labour has to take at least some share of the blame mate for allowing them in in the first place, she didn't vote herself in (repeatedly). Nor did Labour appear to have credible alternatives until TB came along. I've said on here for ages now, I'm not convinced Labour have enough backing now, that is a lot of ground to have lost.

People vote for big change when they have had enough, I remember the celebration when Blair got in. So why was a nation so pissed they voted in Maggie?

Without Thatcher would it have happened? I'm only young like, but it was very much an atmosphere of 'us vs them' no? From what I've read she was just as culpable as them. They were just her puppets, not in the sense of she was the mastermind, but the regime (and atmopshere) that allowed it to happen.

Purely on a Hillsborough front her death is worth celebrating, then you add in all the other things she has done... and its a party.

If the application of blame is applicable it isn't obvious at first glance. Straying into the realms of Tony Blair, a subsequent Prime Minister, negates the subject/OP.

You ask,

I lived through it ~ the black outs, power cuts, the great British loaf that kept us fed in the candle light. They were dire times, believe me it was no joke.

Thatcher's rhetoric resonated at the time within the media of the day and the middle class public took it on board without the future incumbent strings attached being actually considered.

As far as I recall she sacked her sports minister for urging caution and restraint (about criticising liverpool fans) straight after Heysel and replaced him with someone on song with the stereotype. I don't think celebrating her passing is really relevant to Hillsborough now we have seen the truth exposed. You're right though, her time was a 'them and us' in many ways but I don't think she created it, she just exacerbated it to the max and celebrated it without shame. Anyway I don't like thinking of things in black and white, she was a good role model for women, strong on international affairs and (imo) wrong in so many domestic policies I don't have enough time to type it all out. Despite the destruction of entire communities, through misguided policies, and a terrible legacy, I will say RIP and condolensces to her family and hope her way has shown there are other ways where we all get a fairer share of the pie.

Labour were idle/complacent and caught off guard, so were the Tories in so many ways in having the first Tory leader as a female in a male dominated environment. I believe the worst event possible happened when John Smith http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Smith_%28Labour_Party_leader%29 lost his life due to a heart attack.

It was exactly the same as it is now.

This is the reason that Cameron is getting away with so much shit, more than she ever did in fact, he is finishing what she started. Labour under Kinnock were a bunch of dithering fools. The party was in disarray and bogged down with infighting, there wasn't a clear message coming out. Kinnock was a c*nt as well, Thatcher firmly ushered in the cult of personality politics, which Blair refined even more. Simply no one liked Kinnock, not even his own party, he didn't have mass appeal and it wasn't understood that in order to defeat her simple policies weren't going to be enough. Part of the reason Labour got back in was down to the tory sleaze and the years of terrible policies and economic disaster of the early 90's recession. It was also due to the spectacular way in which New Labour went about its PR campaign. See right there, New Labour, distancing itself from the old dysfunctional regime. Then making a massive deal about publically dropping clause four. Not to mention Blair himself, give the lying big eared tosser his due, he was, is a hell of a speaker. There was unity under a credible leader the public liked and a clear message. I clearly remember the word going round no infighting, don't let the tories win because Labour are seen to be the same old divided mess.

Labour would actually be in power with the Libdems now if they had taken a leaf out of the tory book. Had Gordon Brown been knifed before the election they might have even of won. That's what the tories did, got shut of her, Major got back in. I remember how god damn sure everyone was that they would lose that election, but seeing as she was gone, people where once again happy to vote tory, better the devil you knew and Kinnock was still knocking round and still a twat.

Yeah. What this world really needs is more women like Margaret Thatcher. She really showed us how to make a difference.

You fucking... <insert your own insult here because obviously as a mod I wouldn't engage in the personal abuse of one of RAWK's members, no matter how much of an idiot that member is>

Are you telling me that having the chance to emulate her and unecessarily make people live in misery and suffering after destroying their entire community didn't float your boat?

Everyone should take a lump of coal and throw that.

Good idea, of course security will be huge for this because they know what people will do. Shes getting the last laugh, costing us a fortune in taxpayers money.

I think a more possible response would be to line the route.
When the coffin comes into view, turn your back, raise your arm, raise your middle finger.

Hold pose until evil has passed.

Also gives the Daily Heil less ammunition afterwards.

<snip....>she was a good role model for women<..../snip>

I never thought of her as a woman, because she really didn't act like one or promote women's issues. I always thought of her as a bloke in a dress and a bad wig.

I wonder if she was so much more "evil" as any other leaders in so called democratic countries.
I hate politicians, all of them.
They seem to live in a world that is not mine at all.
I fear that in the nearby future we in Holland need a written permit signed by all European states just to go to the toilet.
