A player who has gone on to manage a top or national team will see the usual players chosen for that one.   

That and one club players which means everyone should get one or two 'usual' players and then it's interesting.

A player who has won 3(?) major trophies in 3(?) separate leagues across the top leagues in Europe (England, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Holland) ??

I'll just quote this to see if anyone prefers it to one of the rules above. Win a major trophy in 3 of Europes top leagues for clarification, as I didn't word it very well above.

I like the idea of the managers one, but it does basically give free reign on picking an undisputed great zzzzz. Especially a certain M who I'd hoped to see sit out this draft.

I, H, B, D, A pretty easilly. I'm prett confident there a lot more than 10.

I agree that only 3 main leagues seems too tricky. But if there's no limit than we're just going the other way with all the players who'd be available.

i think it needs a limit. If we allow 3 worldwide leagues then it's far too easy to select players. It removes the challenge. 3 of Europe's major leagues makes us think a little.

This is all dependent on whether we are removing one of the rules Hazell posted

I got 3 ideas:

1. Player to have never played in a WC
2. Player to have scored an own goal in a WC
3. Player to have been sent off in the CL/EC

1 x International with 120 or more caps.
1 x player born in the 1990s.
1 x player who's been relegated (any league or division, not via points deductions).
1 x player who has not made a single appearance in England, Italy, Spain, Germany or Brazil  ~ no Ballon D'or/FIFA World nominees
1 x Uncapped player
1 x player who played a league match in Asia, Africa or Oceania ~ no Ballon D'or/FIFA World nominees
1 x Player who's never won a major trophy (club or country).
1 x Player from a nation below 30 in the world rankings (as of the latest FIFA rankings).
1 x Non-Brazilian/Argentinian South American.
1 x One club player
1 x Player who has never played in a major international tournament

Added the last one, took the managers one out. There'd be some overlap between a few categories but it shouldn't be a problem. Everybody happy?

Too many easy players I think who get picked all the time in drafts. It's not set in stone or anything just yet, just trying to restore some sanity amidst the chaos. Besides, we'll let you have Roy Hodgson regardless.

I mean, if we struggle to get more categories, we can just have 5 categories, and each category we have 2 players. So instead of "1 x (insert category)", we have "2 x (insert category)"

It's not complicated 

Instead of finding a player whose surname begins with I, you find one who has over 100 caps (or whatever). It's easy. Once you know the criteria you can set about making your list, like any other draft.

I'd suggest maybe a longer time limit for this one? 90 minutes maybe?

Agreed. A brief explanation (a 1000 word essay would apt) for each category should be attached.
