BVB must be through the roof. Getting him back now and he'll certainly think twice before considering a move from them ever again.

Yeah... no other club has ever bought a player and it not work out... oh... wait.... we didn't buy him. So a player who couldn't get a game at Real Madrid and couldn't get into the team at Liverpool has gone back to Germany. Hold the back pages!!...

I was joking on that point.

Difference between not fitting in and being played out of position is that the former is unpredictable and the latter is an absolute joke. Why the f*** did we waste money on this fella when he didn't fit into the philosophy ?

Sir Rodgers has messed up here and no mistake. Obviously it's tough when we've got somebody of Allen's calibre competing with him for a similar position but still...

If Gerrard had struggled for fitness, Henderson hadn't improved so much or Sahin had shown the level of ability displayed at Dortmund then I can see how useful he would've been. It didn't happen though, we've played our fittest, most in form midfield where possible and Sahin was rarely either.

What on earth is borderline mistreatment?...

Don't you know Alan, footballers are practically slaves, they are paid a tens of thousands of pounds each week, a signing on fee, to do two hours of training, a few times a week, then they might have to run about for 90 minutes on a weekend.  Mistreatment is presumably making them sit on the bench, playing them out of their favourite position.  So so cruel.

Everyone talks about him being played out of position but he didn't play every game in an advanced midfield role - he interchanged with Gerrard in some matches and played pretty centrally in quite a few games too. Sadly he looked way off the pace and offered very little in all but one Premier League encounter. Had he made more of an impression I could understand the tears.

Not really. I only ever saw that thrown about with Babel who, at no point, was world class. Nuri, on the otherhand, not long ago, was world class. I wouldn't bet against him being that again.

Best of luck Nuri...wont forget that night in West Brom  :wave

Sahin was probably the most technically gifted player on the squad outside of Suarez (and MAYBE Sterling). Its a real shame he never had a true opportunity to show what he could do. Yeah, Yeah. Most will disagree. I look forward to enjoying more of Allen/Henderson's terrible forward passing.

Against Arsenal, Stoke, Reading, Newcastle, Everton and Chelsea he was either poor, average at best or totally anonymous.

And then we woke up. Was it all a dream? The calendar said January, but there was little evidence to suggest this was more than the inner workings of an overactive mind. Through sleep deprived eyes we spied an empty tub of pomade, and then we knew. To us, it would forever be real. As real as last night's kebab and the three tabs of acid we hadn't had time to drop. Goodbye Nuri, my Turkish love unicorn, may you flit through time and space until your heart finds its home. Maybe it already has...

However, 12 starts is not very much for a player to settle in a new league + just coming back from injury. Can't imagine we didn't count in those factors when loaning him.

I agree with that mate, maybe BR didn't envisage Gerrard adopting so well to a deep CM role, where Sahin would have played. And he probably realised early on how weak we looked without the ball with both Gerrard and Sahin in midfield and neither having the legs or energy to press effectively.

Should have been given at least 1 game next to Lucas to see but for me he had enough chances in the Alonso position and apart from the goals he never really stood out did he
Some players just don't perform as well in different leagues its happened before and it will happen again , makes a fucking change that were sorting out these mistakes from the off instead of keeping them when their not even playing like we have done in the past
