Seen his 2 goals on Sky just now. First I've seen of him all season, but looks like he's bulked up and can now hold off defenders. Hope he stays in that division, plays as much as he can and develops into a fine striker.

Is it just Freedman who doesn't start him or was it Coyle as well? Glad for him that he got his two goals yesterday from off the bench, it might mean more starts for him over the coming months.

Good to see N'gog doing well. I would be honest that Carroll has even failed to replace N'gog. Makes it a proper embarrassment when your 1.5M is perhaps a better player than your record signing. Any thoughts on Carroll vs N'gog?

Stop it mate, the distaster of our last years in a nutshell....

Carroll 35m
Ngog 1.5m

One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10

You'd think he was a lot better than he actually is if you'd never seen him play and only read the comments in this thread. If he was so good he wouldn't be playing for Bolton in the Championship (and he'd have definitely scored more than two goals this season).

Sorry to his many fans but I think Kenny was right to sell him and we've seen no evidence to suggest that it was a bad decision.

Right to sell is correct but it turns out to be a bad decision. The reason is sorely because no one has replaced him yet. Last season, as mentioned above, even Carroll failed to do that. A 1.5M forward wouldn't have done in much harm today and particularly a forward who was willing to work as a back-up at Liverpool and showed enough motivation to improve. Not many players like that in world football today.

:D

The sad thing is that it isn't even that far fetched...

Carroll had his much needed starting place run in a team that played to his strengths and look at his return.

Hopefully he gets on a run of goals and finds his goalscoring touch, think he can be a decent Prem striker if he does. Those two goals were more than good finishes. Second one actually impressed me more for some reason. Showed for the ball and then made the run.

I always had a soft spot for him. And of course this helped:

http://youtu.be/3nUX4Gf59Uw?t=8m51s

One of my fav moments at Anfield. We were under such pressure and everyone was really tense, wave after wave of man utd attacks - and then that. Such a release!

Still astounds me that Reina got there first to celebrate with him! And oh do I miss Kuyt.

I always felt Ngog was able, had promise and hoped he'd develop into a quality player. As it was I didn't think he was a bad backup striker. He was only called upon so much because of Torres being injured. He did very well for a young guy with so much pressure on his shoulders and such massive boots to fill.

Erm, yes we have. Shelvey up front vs West Ham. No striker on the bench vast majority of games since Borini got injured. Sorry but that's evidence for me.

Not claiming he's world class but we got rid of our only back up striker and haven't replaced him since. I know what you mean like, but it was mismanagement getting rid of a young back-up striker and not replacing him

We sold him like Meireles and relegated Maxi to the bench because we "assumed" that their replacements namely Downing, Adam, Henderson together with Carroll would form a formidable attack and partnership.
