Who can name the only Irish manager to go through an entire world cup qualifying group campaign without a single defeat?
Is this a trick question yeah? Was it Trap when manager of the Italians?

Seriously though, I have a genuine question for all of you

What scoreline were you all expecting from the Germany game?

I was expecting 0-4 myself.

Michael McCarthy.

Didn't lose in the WC either (defeats on pens count as draws in the official stats)

No, it was Trapp when he led us through the ten games of our 2010 group without a single defeat

The French game was a playoff game. Not a group game, so his record stands on that one

Not that he'll ever get credit for it like now that the wagons are circling

Oh yeah we lost that away leg in Tehran. My bad.

edit:
No hang on, not having that. We didnt lose any of our ten games in the qualifiers for 2002 - and we had far tougher teams in Holland and Portugal than for the last Euros.

Here is a list of players that Charlton had during his tenure who were League winners in either England or Scotland

Pat Bonner, Chris Maurice, Denis Irwin, Steve Staunton, Jeff Kenna, Dave O'Leary, Mick McCarthy, Ronnie Whelan, Ray Houghton, Roy Keane, Kevin Sheedy, and John Aldridge. Both Niall Quinn and Frank Stapleton narrowly missed out on league medals. And that's just the ones with medals. That's before you even mention Paul McGrath who was world class in his pomp, and Andy Townsend who was an accomplished top flight midfielder in his own right

Here is Trapps list of League winners:

Damien Duff

I'm staying out of the argument but out of curiosity do you have the same list for Mick?

Another part of the problem is that we don't have players of the quality of Roy Keane and Denis Irwin anymore

Can't be expecting Cork to fucking produce the nations best sports stars all the time like

You'd think the rest of you useless fuckers could chip in from time to time instead of always relying on us

Pride in the national sport my bollox.

We've produced everything from Christy Ring, to dual star All Ireland winners, to Premier League winners, to World and European champion track athletes, to the O'Gara - Stringer connection. You name the sport, and we've done it

Congrats on being good at Hurling though. Well done
