Haven't nike got a 'customised' program? Where you can design your own trainers, or more like adjust things like colour, put stiched images in and so on. Pretty sure I've heard of something like that. Would explain the price too, they're 'individual' trainers with on-demand/very small manufacturing runs.

Edit: Yeah they do, it's called NIKEiD.

Anyone can make their own trainers.

some of it may be nationality - I'm an American, and while I would never buy them, I think Lebron's shoes look pretty nice. Likewise, I think a lot of the "trainers" posted in the off-topic thread here look dumb.

yes. I, along with most of my friends, don't really wear adidas stuff. I'm confident that Nike's market share is much higher in the US than in Europe.

really people? this shoe isn't meant for you. It is comparably styled to other "modern low top" basketball shoes that nike has been coming out with for the past couple of years. These shoes are immensely popular amongst high schoolers, LA, NY -metropolitan areas. The same markets that players like Kobe, Lebron, and Kevin Garnett are stars in.

I've always thought that basketball had many elements in common with soccer and I think nike came to the same conclusion. Now they're trying to marry the two and introduce a whole new set of fans to soccer. Imagine if these kids bought liverpool jerseys as often as they buy basketball jerseys. They wear a different one every day. We could pay hazard whatever he wants....screw the FA, we'll buy em back.
