Banners Going To Wembley
« on: February 15, 2012, 07:39:05 pm »
Now the ballot & sales have passed and we have our tickets I thought it would be a good idea to display our Banners so we know who to look out for at Wembley.

8 of us Aberdeen Branch boys will be there and our 'Bow Down To The King' Lion Rampant will be joining us on the 505

Please show off the banners you have made and are taking

You'll have to replace the Adidas with Warrior next season. Won't really have the same effect.   ;D

No chance unless the away days from both yesteryear and now turn from Adidas to New Balance.

There is a post somewhere in the tickets threads about the banner regulations. Can't be arsed digging it out, but afaik the limits are:

Max dimension (length, height)  250 cm (about 8 foot)
Max pole length 1m  (....which makes taking poles pointless imo)
----------------------

Edit: stopped being lazy and found it:
http://www.wembleystadium.com/events/groundregulations

Guidance for use of flags at Wembley Stadium

Wembley Stadium upholds the highest standards of Health and Safety. The following guidance is in line with the stadium’s grounds regulations. - We know that many supporters like to display flags at football matches and Wembley Stadium will always be as accommodating as possible.

- Flags are not generally confiscated, however the obstruction of gangways, access routes, exits and entrances, health and safety signage and stairways is strictly forbidden.

- In the event of an emergency we must have all access and exit points clear.

- Wembley Stadium reserves the right to confiscate flags if they are very large or may compromise public safety, obscure someone’s view, a camera position or if a flag carries offensive, discriminatory or inflammatory messaging.

- Flags more than 250cm in size at their widest or longest section will not be allowed and flagpoles greater than 1m in length will not allowed.

- Any articles that could potentially be used as a weapon and/or compromise public safety are strictly prohibited.

- Permission must be sought in advance from the stadium and event owner to arrange use of the very large supporter flags that are designed to be passed over people's heads. In such cases the flag must be flame retardant and the organiser bringing the flag into the stadium will need to provide the appropriate H&S certification.

Bloody hell, the stewards are not going to be standing there with tape measures! Yes, you will be fine. As long as you don't walk up and make it really obvious that you think your banner may be too big. Fold it neatly, and they'll be less inclined to look, because it will appear to be much smaller than it actually is.

I think this was 2001, in the Texas state legislature, they were trying to outlaw sodomy, while at the SAME time, trying to repeal the law against bestiality.
So potentially, you couldn't make love in the privacy of your own home, but you'd be able to go down to the local pound & have a good ol LEGAL Texas style dawg fuckin!

Having been to Wembley a couple of times recently (all with Cardiff, ironically!) I can say that from what I've seen the stewards aren't overly zealous when it comes to flags or banners.

I've sat in the upper tiers on all occasions if that makes any difference and I've seen some massive fuck off flags/banners on all sides of the ground. A lot of people were tying them to the edge of the tier though which meant they weren't obscuring anyone's view, I suppose. There were a couple in and around where I was and they weren't causing any interference, the stewards left them alone.

Suppose it really depends on how many there are in one location, or if they stay up for long periods of the game, etc. But from personal experience I think most would be fine.
