He is without a job for a year now. The last job, Inter, was probably the breaking point. And thats why he took a break. Call it recuperation if you want. But for a manager in the calibre of Rafa, one year is a long time. Sure the likes of Beşiktaş and Atletico Madrid came knocking. And maybe even Sunderland sniffed around. But after what happened with us and Inter, sure Rafa needs a team that backs him whole heartedly. And there are very few teams in the world that does it. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Malaga, PSG, AC Milan, Lazio and maybe even Bayern Munich. But atleast we have one thing to be thankful for. He isnt going to just every club that wants him. He is carefully weighing his options taking into account of stability of management, backing power and players he would inherit. Which is good. So going to PSG, in my opinion, would be a notable point in his career.

Would like to see him go there. Good young team with players like Pastore and Sakho to build a team around. He could build them into a strong european team.

The first half of that game was simply beautiful. Inter were utterly superb, one of the best displays of football I saw that year, it was an absolute footballing lesson. I remember the speechless pundits' expressions, the funereal atmosphere in the studio, the speechless expression on my mate in the pub. I think I was laughing for around 5 minutes solid after that first half.

Then just to let the papers have a sniff of a positive slant to the story, they switched off for 5 minutes and Bale ran riot. The twat

I quite like L'OM myself so I won't be too pleased that a manager of Rafa's calibre would be taking over the reins at PSG. But it would be a great move for both the club and the manager. Top club with a huge fanbase , continental appeal in a competitive league. Much better than taking over a club like Sunderland or Villa imo.

Who was available for him to get in January though, Mourinho had some problems with Valdano, the second man behind Perez in the Bernabeu hierarchy. I see Mourinho is there at Madrid but I can't see Valdano there right now.

From what I remember there was a power struggle between Jorge Valdano and Mourinho. Perez eventually sided with Mourinho, doing away with the general manager position and showing Valdano the door, and trusting Mourinho with a much more English-style manager role as opposed to head coach.

I personally don't think Rafa wants another job in England, I think he's just taken time off until the right job comes along. He's at home here in the city, well over the water

Wasn't it Van Nistelrooy? Think think RVN threatened to go on strike because his club (Malaga?) wouldn't lower their terms for a loan, and Real weren't interested in paying over the odds for him.
