We can go 11 points clear of them tomorrow with them having 1 game in hand. It's nice...but I still thought a Chelsea win was the worst possible outcome today.

They have less points than they did at this point last season, and they are further off fourth place.

They're 3 points better off. 42 after 26 games last season, 45 points after 26 this season. Given their Barça like style of play, it's hardly stunning progress.

Has anyone seen this on the GOT forum?

Quote
Just a heads up lads...if anyone comes across an article from the sun tomorrow (not that you read it anyway) with a wedding video featured in it (martinez makes an appearance) then I can only apologize

Hate the scummy paper and have tried to get them not to [Poor language removed] publish it...but since we did a piece to the South Wales Echo down here apparently we have lost the rights.

They are going to pay us money for it, so am going to donate that straight to the Hillsborough fund #jft96

Sorry lads - shouldn't have let wales online do the piece in the first place really - but there you go, ya live and live.

Looks like their not even going to win the 'highest placed team from the city of Liverpool' trophy  this year.

They can at least console themselves with the 'most possession from a team from the city of Liverpool' trophy instead.

Weren't they accusing us of being bullies, and saying Suarez only does it against the smaller teams after we lost away to City and Chelsea in quick succession?

Erm, us, Spurs, Chelsea, 3 defeats in the last 4. Go figure!

After this defeat, they are pretty much out of the top 4 race, especially if we do our job well against Swansea tomorrow.

On a side note, I find it pretty funny that Jelavic is starting to score pretty regularly for Hull.

Ross Barkley was absolutely horrendous when he came on, is he injured?

I think he is carrying an injury but he's been shite for a while, I reckon the hype's gone to his head. Every game it's the the same thing. Pick up the ball around the edge of the area, run run run run, turn, run run run try to work angle for a shot, if it's on, shoot. If it's not either lay the ball off to the wing or turn and do exactly the same thing in the opposite direction and try again. Looks very much like teams have figured him out.

Bound to be a very good player in the future but he's gonna have to do what Coutinho's done this season and learn to vary his game a little.

If you go out tonight in Liverpool you'll find Barkley with a gang of cling-ons in one of the top bars getting pissed. Tonight or any other weekend for that matter. Sure, let off some steam now and then and he is young, but he needs to concentrate on his football.

My brother when that Deulofeu (or however you spell it) came on today, "yeah he's the replacement for Messi at Barca".

I don't know why they take such pride in these loan players, they're literally using Everton as a small club to develop at. Yet they take some sort of pride in it, it's the smallest club mentality I can imagine. Sort of like when a league 2 team sells a player to a Prem team and they get excited to see how he does up there.

Haha, loads of their fans reckon they dominated Chelsea today.

They edged the first half, sure, but second half they were swarmed all over and struggled to get close to Chelsea's penalty area. Over the 90 minutes Chelsea were slightly the better side.

Barkley was shocking when he came on. Partly to do with him still being unfit no doubt but as good as he is at striking a ball with both feet his game intelligence is poor, seems to have no understanding of what's going on around him half the time. Let the Bitters continue to think he's 10x the player of Coutinho, though, if it makes them feel better.

The Echo also reports Sir Terry Leahy saying that it's difficult to get investors to put money in because "to the outside world Everton are the Number 2 club in the city".

Is the implication there that it isn't also the way that the city of Liverpool rightly sees the club too?

Blues I know going on again that Barkley would 'walk into our team'.

Maybe one day, but not yet. They need to keep his feet on the ground and tell him he needs to show hes the best
