Colleen married a gold mine. She's not stupid. I'm also pretty sure she knows what he's like.

He'll come grovelling back and she'll spit out number 5 next year.

Given his spending, she'd be better off bailing now and taking care of half the fortune for the kids. Rooney is going to get through the lot in five/ten years. He has no moral compass. It's different to George Best, for example, who simply became bored by his own talent.

nah, not really...i think he's just a normal working class kid who still hasn't come to terms with having ridiculous amounts of money and all the women he can shake his tool at - the game is and always has been full of them...and you can bet a pound to a pinch of shit that the antics he's just been copped for happen every weekend up and down the country, albeit anonymously......Gascoigne on the other hand is a genuinely troubled soul with issues that appear to go far beyond the travails of yer usual footy player, Rooney included

I can agree that football has players who are similar or worse than Rooney in respect of how they live their life. I only compare Rooney to Gascoigne though to in respect that i wonder if Rooney will fall the same way as Gascoigne has gone after football is done with him. I don't see Wayne Rooney as the type to go on as a manager to keep himself occupied, and i certainly don't see him as a regular pundit (aka Jamie Carragher/Gary Neville - albeit you can bet that Sky/BBC would be very interested in getting him onboard). I wonder once its all over for him playing wise, what will he do. Clearly as has been mentioned he has fallen into the trap of spending a ridiculous amount at casino's, and he won't be able to carry on doing that forever.

As i say though, hopefully he'll sort himself out and it all turns out well for him but you have to wonder.

Yeah, the comparisons with Gazza are ridiculous.  Rooney was stupid and dangerous for driving while drunk, but he's allowed to go for a bevy with his mates.

I guess he can claim he's already giving back to the disadvantaged by signing for Everton.

It's different to George Best, for example, who simply became bored by his own talent.

I don't think it was boredom that caused Bests downfall. It was his alcoholism

Gazza is an addict and has struggled with mental illness.  I don't think Rooney can be in any way compared to him.

Agree. They're not even remotely similar

I don't think Rooney is a bad person, just a stupid one who makes stupid, childish mistakes with his money. He's a good person deep down despite the prossies and cheating and drinking, just one who is gone mad with his money and doesn't know what to do having that much with the background he's come from. I'm not saying aww diddums, he's clearly a tit, but he's actually a decent enough fella I think behind the mistakes.

I'm not sure how you can say that when the lad has confessed to cheating on his wife and has publicly humiliated her and his family on multiple occasions.

Infact, he was probably in that car because he didn't want to get into a taxi and risk being seen going back to that girl's place. Backfired massively.

It also reads as exactly what a PR person would publish for him in this situation. To mollify his sponsors, he was always going to release something like that. He may be genuinely remorseful, I just can't tell from the public statements.

The way I see it? If you take a kid from a council estate who has nothing and give him everything in a short space of time you have to expect mistakes. The question should be, at almost 32, should he still be making those same mistakes?

Absolutely not. Not one of this magnitude. I don't think he's a c*nt. I think he's foolish and probably is a good guy to be around and is seemingly very generous. But the worry for me is what happens when those boots finally hang up.

Agreed, i met him at a WHS Smith book signing and he seemed a top bloke very shy and humble, a good dad who fucked up with his marrige. Men are human so mistakes happen in all relationships, the bloke had been in the spotlight since the age of 16 odd, not suprising he has some issues but Coolen is still with him so she must still have trust in him and want to make it work.
