I have a couple of questions about this game, Do you need a steering wheel for the PC game ? If not how easy is it using the Key Board ?
If I got this for the Xbox do you need a Steering wheel ?
Thanks for any help in advance.

No you don't need a steering wheel for it to be compatible with any platform.

You can use keyboard on pc if you wished but it would probably be easier with a pad, you can configure 360 one's i think.
You can use a pad on 360 version.

I use the wheel and pedals for gt5, however i'm not using the wheel/pedals for F1 because i tried it with f1 ce on ps3 and it didnt feel right.

Any shops breaking the street date for this? Would love to get it today!

Thanks for that, I will look to get it for the PC. Just wondering if they will release it on the PSP handheld this year.

Completed 3 races, started 17th, 12th and 10th, finished 8th, 5th and 24th (crashed) on Force India. Gained a lot of positions on start, AI behind me unable to pass me while AIs ahead build a huge gap - same as last year :\ In all 3 races 24 cars finished despite two of them being under heavy rain, this pisses me off.

Just finished my first race in career mode with Force India on Legend difficulty, and it was exactly the same for me. Qualified 12th, moved upto 5th in the first few corners then the leaders pulled away whilst I was holding of Vettel and Hamilton. I was actually trying to get them to overtake me in some corners, I would brake around 200 meters before the corner and just coast around leaving enough space for them to overtake, but they just wouldn't. The straight was the only place where they would try, but even then they got beside me but would brake early into the first corner and tuck in behind me again. Vettel only passed me when my intermediate tyres were wearing out and I made a mistake and went off the track in the last few laps. The game is an improvement over last years but they really need to sort the AI out. Looking forward to midnight for my Steam version to be unlocked so I can try some online racing.

It's not amazing me so far. It seems to be the same as last year in that the cars in front pull away and the ones behind can't catch up unless you do something really stupid, or they're just massively faster than you. Keeping a McLaren behind you when you're in a Lotus isn't easy for instance.

I'm definitely my own worst enemy though. Had a quick race, 3 laps around Monza in a Red Bull and won by miles. Went to career on Intermediate mode and with Lotus. I'm fast, yet shit. Grid penalties AOTS for me so far in just 2 races. Been forgetting to use the replay thingies so 2 crashes in Aussie meant I just ended up quitting it, 45 seconds behind 23rd so no point carrying on. Malaysia was a bit better, ended up 16th which is quite shit considering I started 13th even with my 10 place grid drop.

Oh and the racing line thingy around Malaysia lies. Don't trust it. 'Green' is supposed to mean you're going either the right speed or slow and yet it still spits me off the track.

kerbs don't mean and instant spin like they did for a  lot of the time last year, so that's an improvement.

Why would anyone want assisted braking on? Can't get my head round that at all.

Feels good this, but when doing career mode why does it give the option to do only 20% laps and then 50%, wasnt there a 25% in the last game?

Fella on Mather Ave said that, too.

I guess the more of the beer we drink, the more likely we are to go back at midnight...?  :hally

Just doing a couple of practice sessions at australian gp. So far I like the way it handles, the drs and kers work well. Boss sound effects, still don't have enough control/realism over tyres, fuel mixture etc without putting the ai difficulty on hard or expert

I feel like medium ai is at just the right level for me but In turn I have all sets (unlimited) tyres available and no option to change my fuel mixture aswell as my fuel being on 3 laps for practice sessions and never depleting, like I said if you higher the difficulty it makes those aspects more realistic but in turn makes the ai quicker

See if you can customise it.

I've got it on intermediate AI (because I crash a lot) but full damage/rules. The safety car coming out was kinda cool.

You defiantly have to manage your fuel in this game. I did a 20% race around Spa last night and ran out of fuel with just over a lap to go as I just put the fuel mix to rich at the start of the race and left it. Also I've just done a race in Spain where I started running out of fuel on the last lap just when I got to that horrible last chicane, which is actually much better this year, but I still prefer going around the old track in practice and on the build up to a fast quali lap.

Next race is obviously Silverstone.......and the weather forecast is for heavy rain. Realism!

Not sure if its because my TV is big and I aint got the correct settings or whatever but mine looks a little blocky. Like the wheels dont look round if that makes sense. Is that the same on everyone elses game? Other than that im loving it.

Agree about the online tho, I dread getting pole and going into the first corner!

The penalties in this game are an absolute joke. I get hit and I'm the one that gets a penalty. A massive pile up occurs blocking the track forcing me to run into someone. I get a penalty. I get knocked off the track by someone else and am forced to cut the corner to go through. I get a penalty for an illegal overtake. I run over the kerb and cop a penalty for corner cutting. People turn into ghosts and I drive straight through them. I get a penalty and lose XP for causing collisions.

The 2010 edition was incredible, but this game is giving me nightmares at the moment. Graphics seem down in certain parts on last years too. A positive is the Nurburgring. It is a great track to race on, it's just a shame some people online think this is bumper cars.

Started a new season on hard difficulty because i started the malaysia gp and was way too quick for a lotus, even now though in practice i was 7th quickest at melbourne, yes i was on option tyres and a rich fuel mix but i was still doing 1.27's and 10 places better than my team mate barrichello

thinkin about going up to expert

My brief impressions are that I like the updates to the handling and DRS and KERS add a level of strategy and realism which is great.

On the PS3 the graphics seem to have gone backwards, and it struggles to keep the framerate at times. This seems a common com paint across various forums, which is a shame as in all other respects it's a good step forward.

I'm not as obsessed with graphics as some so I don't see this stopping me getting plenty out of it as the gameplay, physics and AI are much more important for me in racing games. That said, to have gone backwards is disappointing!

^^ nice  ;D

Was playing this for the first time last night. Handling seems much improved and it's a lot more fun and more challenging to drive. The damage system is still miles out though, I find it odd that there at least isn't an option to make the cars as delicate as they are in real life.

nah it's always penalising me for doing that. I've got it on 'full' penalties though.
