The muppet free Alberto Aquilani topic
« on: July 16, 2011, 12:44:13 pm »
I'm sure his pre-season performances deserve a thread now eh? ;D

Always backed the lad as I thought he was genuinely class last season despite  the media being on his and Rafa's back.

I know it's only pre-season but he makes us play; we need that; surely he can't be sold?

Third try: Alberto Aquilani
« Reply #1 on: July 16, 2011, 12:44:43 pm »
Ok folks, this time lets try it without the bitching and fighting. Posts like "if he's really that good, how come we've had no offers from him" are not permitted

Nor is nonsense like "he doesn't want to be here, we should sell him"

The fact of the matter is, he's back from his loan now, and he is still our player. He looked a class act today. His touch and vision and passing was sublime. Easily man of the match. I really really think he could be integral to the pass and move type football that Kenny and Steve Clark are imposing on the first team. He and Suarez could be lethal together in the final 3rd IMO. Even our owner Mr. Henry was so impressed with Aquilani's performance today that he took to posting on twitter about him.

Welcome back Alberto.

So, Liverpool, pass and move, Aquilani....lets chat

Fantastic performance against inferior opponents. Nice to see Mr Henry tweeting positive things about his performance.

So when do we make this Aquilani signing permanent?  Seems miles ahead of everyone else in terms of passing in midfield.

I fully agree with you there Billy.

Plus, he was excellent when he had the opportunity to play with us previously. So he can cut the mustard in the league.

...is boss as fuck.

For god's sake, don't fucking sell him. Absolutely class performance which showed his skill in abundance.

Will be so so so important if we can get him playing like that on a regular basis.
I trust the King, but if we lose a few more on the trot now - he may have to step aside, and we have to purchase another manager in the middle of the season. If we are relegated, this could be the end of our ambitions to win any title the next 100 years.

He is better than Raul in my opinion. We are overloaded in midfield. If anyone leaves I think unfortunately it has to be Raul.

Fantastic performance against inferior opponents. Nice to see Mr Henry tweeting positive things about his performance.

There are inferior opponents in the premier league as well though. We don't always manage to beat them... and I'm not sure we would have beaten Malaysia without him today either.

Let at least try and keep him eh?

FUCKING KEEP HIM. I'd be really really really disappointed if we lose a player of his class.

He raises the level players around him. The other players have to be on par with his thinking and passes.

Thereby making the whole team play better, efficient and one touch football.

Without doubt our most skilful midfielder.

Nobody comes close to him in terms of control and awareness.

This is important to highlight. Many were given the excuse of the pitch for poor control and passing but Aquilani adjusted beautifully.

His quality was clear from day one really, and especially when he came back from injury at the end of his first season. I think he was hindered by some bad decisions & a falling out with Rafa or his staff. He deserves another shit this season though, 100%. It'd be crazy to sell him without ever letting him prove himself with a decent run in the side.

is kenny really going to start adam over aquilani?

Yes because they will be playing in different positions.

I think Aquilani will be used as Gerrard's replacement in a 4-2-1 (HERE) -3 formation while Adam will be sitting in front of the defence with Lucas.

I was wondering, it was Aquilani with that half-way line shot that nearly went in at the end, wasn't it? The commentator never said who took it.

Thought he was excellent personally: his passing, touch and movement is sublime at times. I'd love us to keep him for next season.

Sadly, there's not enough room in the squad for Adam, Aquilani and Meireles.
