I want to second the vote for Cairo after working there for a while.  Trying to do anything in that city is a massive drama.  Simple stuff like crossing the road.

LA is pretty horrible as well.  Just a massive, massive slum.  Every other shop is either selling crack pipes or stripper shoes.

Getting to the gower its self is a fucking nightmare though. They don't have any buses back from the gower after half 5 in the evening.

I've just had to move to Melbourne for family reasons and it's so boring. At $10.50 a pint, the nightlife is way to expensive. But having said that, it's the most interesting of Australian cities. The whole country just lacks a bit of culture really. But if you like the beach then I suppose it's for you.

I'm up in the north of Melbourne, so I'm like 45 mins from the centre of town by tram.
It's not to hard to find places to go out, they're just expensive. I suppose once I get a job, it will be a bit better earning Australian money. I almost had a stroke when I saw the wages over here. I was planning on buying a small island, but then with how expensive everything is, I suppose it evens out.

Arrecife (Lanzarote) - Blink and miss it. Where all the locals live, fuck knows why.

Essen (thanks to Al Bol for the reminder) - Stopped off there once off for a comfort break, never again. 60's concrete hell and Germany's answer to Coventry minus the curry houses. Remember it's fun fun fun on the Autobahn so stay on it til you've gone well past.

Kaliningrad - Once a historic baltic port city reduced to a crime-ridden, disease infested shithole. Dangerous place, stay away.
