Hope they don't go after Villa Boas
Didi Hamann

In the corridors and changing rooms of Anfield I met many people - the great, the talented, the legendary.  I know that I only met one genius.  He was a small, smiling man with a neatly clipped beard.  His name was Rafael Benitez.

Villas-Boas seems the most likely Abramovich choice, No?
Possibly. But would he want to risk a high profile sacking so early in his career?

Who knows, opinion I guess but come on Overrated ? Give me a break mate.
Then would it be OK to say "Carlo is as good as Rijkaard"?

Rijkaard got the boot for similar, in fact better results, because it was clear that Barca team was capable of MUCH more. For me, this Chelsea team is capable of much more.

The team he built at Milan wasn't the best was it.

                                                                                                   Dida

                                                               Cafu           Nesta                     Stam                 Maldini

                                                                                                   Pirlo
                                                                                 Gattuso                 Seedorf
                                                                                                   Kaka'

                                                                                   Shevchenko       Crespo

Then the 03 one with Rui Costa, Inzaghi, Costacurta.
Overrated Team.
A Liverbird upon my chest, we are the men of Shankly's best. A team that plays the Liverpool way, and wins the championship in May.

What about the Serie A, English Premier League and World Club titles?
You know how it goes, "he had the best squad in the league, so it's not a big deal" kinda thing? The things what people say about Mourinho winning league titles in different countries?

I think he is a decent manager actually...

Decent is about as far as I'd go. No way Abramovich would touch him with a ten foot pole. Struggled with Europe at Villa because he couldn't manage his resources by rotating.

9/4 in the betting.
He'd be nuts to go there though. He seems smart enough to say no. He has Porto playing amazingly so why not see how far he can take them in the CL and have another season of smashing domestic opponents left right and centre, must be good fun winning game after game.
He's got plenty of time for a bigger job.

Nah I can see Hiddink get back if he fails with Turkey, but he usually doesn't fail so will have to wait and see.

He beat Ferguson for the title. No matter what you say, Ferguson is a fucking brilliant manager. Ancelotti beat him once, and got within one game of doing it again this season.

Rafa Bentiez as the new man ? His record in the CL coupled with Abramovichs desire to win the competition. Also knows Torres pretty well and how to go about getting the best out of him.

Carlo is a better manager than Rijkaard.

This Chelsea team isn't capable of much more. It needs re-building, and a fair lot of it too.

End of the day whoever take the "poisoned chalice" on will know that Chelsea does need a massive re-building process, fair enough they signed Luiz and Torres but only void has been filled and not two.  Rumours about Hiddink been advising the club since he left so would not be surprised if he was at the top of the list as well as Mourinho esque Villa Boas.

Whoever takes on the job they will basically have to work under very challenging conditions and just do not think Rafa will be wanting to go into that position again in all honesty.

Well it wasn't similar was it?

Rijkaard went two years without winning anything (in a two team league) and finished 10 points below Villarreal.

Ancelotti's gone a season without winning anything and has finished in 2nd place.

Although things can change quickly, Boas siad at the press conference before the EL final, he had no intention on leaving Porto to any club. he was happy and wanted to stay in Portugal.

I would also hazard a guess that Mourinho will advise him to larf it off after telling him how Abramovich works.

Would Rafa go there, i think he could make some strong demands for funds and control and would then take it

or perhaps wait for Mancini to fuck up early next season as city is a better option for him IMO, keep his house in Wirral for example.

16/1 at VC for RB to be next chelsea mgr, good bet IMO.
