Yeah, most City fans are just secretly jealous that they couldn't muster that sort of passion for a team. Same goes for most English clubs.

Could see it happening/has happened at Celtic and abroad in Spain/Portugal/Italy/Croatia/Poland/South America but then we're not English, we are Scouse !!

They've contacted the police because they are scared of a good atmosphere

Joe Anderson must be a City fan now.

There will probably be empty seats at the Ethiad anyway. It's only a quarter final, a bit beneath them now that they are a European heavyweight.

Last season Champions League game against Monchengladbach.

That was the game where Pep was moaning about how shit the fans are there.

But no doubt it was officially a sell out that helped towards their match revenues that bloated their absurd owner propped turnover,i  actually wonder how much Shiekh Mansour pays propping up their match day revenue every season

Great picture that. Just over 30,000 there that night.  I was surprised it was so many considering the circumstances.

How many do you reckon Liverpool would get if a midweek CL game was postponed at the last minute and then re-arranged for 24 hours later?  Curious really.

It's funny you lot always have an excuse of not showing up at your own stadium, and having a crap atmosphere at your biggest matches.

No denying the atmosphere is crap most of the time.

City had sold about 48,000 tickets for the night before so about 8000 below capacity. The game was literally cancelled very last minute. I was about a mile away from the ground when we found out it was off and had to turn round. Lot's of reasons why people had travelled one night wouldn't be able to do the same again the following night. That's why I ponder how would Liverpool do in the same circumstances.

It's not unknown for Liverpool to have crowds of just over 30,000 in Champions League group stages. Certainly it happened in the season you last won it and crowds often low for the early rounds of the European Cup back in the day. So what IMO.

On the crowd thing, I posted this here a couple of years ago:

I’m an “old-timer” mate and I’ve attended 95% of all City home games for many, many years and I’m not remotely embarrassed about our attendances now or before the lottery win. Are “old-timer” Liverpool fans embarrassed by historic attendances for European matches at Anfield?  I would have thought not a chance of that and I don’t blame them even though loads and loads of European games were played when Anfield wasn’t full based on the capacity at the time.  As an example just look at the home attendances at Anfield for the 5 years when Liverpool won the big one and I think some of you on here might be surprised:

lowest one the year we won it in the groups was around 33k v Monaco and after that deportivo was 40k and all the rest were sold out, only one I can remember being around 30k was boavista at home on 9/11.

As for the early rounds of the European cup being low attendances, have a look at who ran the country at the time

They want to create a rivalry. They aren't worthy of a rivalry. They can win what they like. They are always going to be a plastic club. When these or chelsea win anything doesn't hurt at all.

Different story when Arsenal, Utd and Spurs (they don't) win something, that hurts. Because like us they spend money generated from the club itself and not the owners. They are doing things the same way we are without pressing the cheat code. Well spurs try their best with diving but still.

Even Utd see us as a bigger rival for the very same reasons. They will never be respected in that way. They can't even fill their stadium.

Got some very short memories this lot haven't they?

"our lads won't be arsed" "Otamendi and Aguero have played in Argentina" "we've played at Anfield before"

They went to pieces at 4-1 earlier in the season and that atmosphere wasn't a patch on what it'll be like by the time this game rolls around.

There's a reason we have a reputation and I can't wait to show them exactly why.

Well in theory this would all be fair but not sure how its a fair game if the clubs with the biggest fanbase, biggest commercial income get to spend the largest amount of money while everyone else has to pick up the scraps.  Football is no level playing field even if you do remove the sugar daddy owners.

Would anyone begrudge what Jack Walker did with Blackburn?  Spending his own money and seeing his club fulfil a dream of winning the title?  I certainly wouldn't.

Sorry but it's a tragedy what's happened to Manchester City. I know if you're a Manchester City fan you can say 'Well, at least we're winning things now'. And that's true. But 'football culture' (whatever that used to be, for better or worse) is... just a little bit more shit.

If we lose to them, we're just losing to people rich on oil money. The victory won't belong to the fans. It'll belong to people rich on oil money.

Weird that people are sniping about attendances and atmosphere and history and all that to be honest. All a bit wool.

Just let them have their daft opinions about their lads not being arsed and the atmosphere being a myth and all the best on the 4th April.

Talk about back firing

OK...
Backfiring through the carb (spitting or coughing) usually occurs in the morning when a carb's air/fuel mixture is a bit too lean. This usually goes away once the engine warms-up. It is also commonly caused by the accelerator pump inthe carb not squirting enough fuel before the main jets start working.

Anyone else already incredibly bored of this whole back and forth? Seeing nothing but "Ye but you haven't won the league for 29 years" / "Your atmosphere is shit" everywhere is boring as hell now.

Let's just get stuck in, give the team the best and most pyro-laden welcome possible, get Anfield absolutely rocking all match and smash these lottery winning c*nts back to their mums and sisters' beds.

Every single game at Anfield since the 3-2 they've come scared. I dont know what it is but something about Anfield is intimidating for those players. They dont play the same, their passes are off, they get flustered by the press, and they crumble.

I’m an “old-timer” mate and I’ve attended 95% of all City home games for many, many years and I’m not remotely embarrassed about our attendances now or before the lottery win. Are “old-timer” Liverpool fans embarrassed by historic attendances for European matches at Anfield?

A crucial difference with those historic attendances is that ours wouldn't have been claimed as being sellouts using the tickets 'sold' metric that can be readily abused by a club with a rich owner.  ;D
