Where I stand, in 305, no problems with atmosphere.
Humour, singing and banter, at its best.
Those of you further forward can hear, stand up and join in!

I'm in 106 and can assure you I do join in the singing. Think it's also fair to say the atmosphere is much better now than it was when Hodgson was here.

Doesnt help when you have thousands of people sitting there with their camera's recording all game and not once trying to sing

Or student girls putting their make up on as I had next to me at one European game a couple of years ago.

I've never understood why so many people do this. It's utter bollox. The game is going on in front of them and they're sat there watching it from behind a mini camera screen. Whats the fucking point of that like? I mean, if you're going to fork out the money to go to the game, then at least watch the fucking thing and support the team instead of fannying about with a camera. Fucking saddo's the lot of them. Probably think they're uber cool because they have a picture of someone taking a fucking throw in. Tits !!!
Yeah I know, just as annoying as people going for a piss through the game or even.....and please don't anyone jump on me, people who hardly watch the match because they spend too much time telling other people to "fucking sing".

It's a nice thought, but I very much doubt it for 2 reasons:

1. Her boyfriend was with her.
2. I'm probably old enough to be her dad!!

I tend to sit at the standing part of 204 at the back when we sing all game but ive had many games when ive been told to keep quiet wilst being sat in the lower centenary/main stand.

Where have all the scarves on the Kop gone?

Used to be a sea of scarves, not so now.

Should be mandatory for every spectator on the Kop to bring one, like some restaurants demand you wear a tie.

It used to look awesome.

Plenty of scarves in evidence today considering how warm it was, but what happened to all the singing?  Was up by the away fans in PK8, and when the Newcastle fans were quiet, which wasn't alot!  the whole stadium seemed to be in silence.  Tried what a previous poster said, and started singing the Suarez song when he won the penalty, and just got some very strange looks.   Was a bit like watching a match in the Headmasters office!!

Wish I could get tickets for 306 to get involved with singing. I try and sit in the kop for every game, but when I'm far away from 306, no chance I'm gonna start belting tunes out when no one around me is. Look like a bad c*nt.

where my parenst sit ( not far from the dugout)  has to be one of the worse places in our ground, one lot all been going for years always late to the game....always, five mins before  first half ends leave to get the pies, then after 2nd half starts 5 min late back also leave on the 80th minute, never a song from them, and they blanch when they see ive swapped seats sometimes to sit with my mum, its like sitting in a library at times

What did the Kop actually sing today, because apart from a faint drift of the Suarez song all we could hear was the Toon army singing something aboout Caroll hitting his misses, and us stealing their stereo's!

Sounded pretty good today from the back of the Kop I thought. :P Sang most of the usual songs but also a few of the players' songs you don't always hear (eg Carra), Lucas song got a few airings but mainly Maxi, Suarez and Kuyt, few rounds of Oh Campione too. Only heard the away fans a couple of times in the second half when it went a bit quiet, couldn't tell you what they were singing though. The problem is the noise doesn't carry from the Kop with the big roof, we think we're making loads of noise but no one the other end of the ground can hear us.

This is exactly it fr me. I was in 304 today and it felt pretty noisey but i've been to games where i've thought it was pretty noisey and my mate sat in the annie rd end said the kop sounds dead all game. If we are to extend Anfield, something needs to be done so noise is carried all around the stadium. I think that if everyone could hear us all singing in 304-306, then they would too. Its a domino effect.

Anyway.....cant wait for Spurs in a couple of weeks. If the whole place isnt rocking it never will be!  ;D
We’ll still finish in top four - and they won’t. You can quote me on this in May.

Watched on ESPN today and asked barman to turn up the sound and then realised the sound was normal just the athmosphere was poor.
Wish I could get to games and help out with a few tunes.
I watched Auxerre play against Paris St Germain a few years ago and the home support had two blokes in what appeared to be a "crows nest" type structure on either side of the goals. They had loadhailers and were belting out songs to liven things up.
Sounds bizzare but it really worked. At the end of the game they were both drained but got a big round of applause from the home fans.
Maybe SKY could film this as well as the "Supporter" commentary!

That must be it then, the acoustics are all wrong.  At the Anny Road end, it just looks like the Kop are sitting watching in silence, unless we score!!  Deffo need to get thte acoustics sorted for the new/revamped/rebuilt Anfield!  At least I know the Kop was singing!

Was in Upper Anfield Rd today and you're right - we couldn't hear the kop. All we could hear were the Newcastle supporters belting out utter shite songs. There was nothing from them except insults - I thought they were more inventive than that?
We tried to get singing going in the section I was in and we did manage quite a few songs. One problem is that each stand can't hear the others and so it can be hard to get a song going in all areas at once.
To work hard and have our supporters behind us and believing until the end, you run a little bit more.

Watching the game on the telly, I mostly heard the Newcastle fans. I heard some Liverpool songs aswell, but definitely not as loud (Carroll song, Suarez song, campione.)
One day, people will hopefully look back and say "I was there son. I was there the year that Spurs won nothing again."

Do you know what, with all the focus on the sound, I'd completely forgotten about how important what it looks like is? The low and long stand roof completely hides the standing and livelier singing part for most of, if not all, the ground. It would make a massive difference if it was lower and more visible to everyone, not just for the sound.

Not sure it's totally to do with age. Plenty of young lads know the score and wouldn't chant shite like that.

What score? Is there a score? In the eighties when they were wining regularly I can reliably inform you that we would happily sing "Who the fucking hell are you" as the opposition ran out on to the pitch. None of this teams walking out together holding hands. Generally always let the away team out first at Anfield so one they could get full on abuse and second so they could hear the welcome the reds got coming out on to pitch. I can also confirm that nearly every away ground we sung "shitty ground" etc. Maybe things have changed but to me very little difference what so ever. Now visitors sing "shitty support" or "who are you" no real difference mate. none at all, just your caught up in some super fan ideal that never really existed. There was a different humor I would agree but slowly things are changing.

I remember when I went to Anfield for my 2nd visit in 2008 when we beat blackburn 3-1, I was sitting in the main stand opposite the dugout and I was suprised at how quiet it was. I could only hear the kop singing after we scored and I was dying sing along to the Torres bounce but didn't want to look like a tool, I started singing but realised I was the only one and shut up straight away.

Totally Agree with you. Next there will be guidelines on what to wear and eat. The Liverpool way is Adidas Samba, Flared cords and Tacchini Top (if you don't know the score and need to be educated by one of the old heads) all of it is self opinionated it really is.

Where I sit in the Kop the atmosphere is grim. When YNWA is played at the start of a game you honestly get about 50% of the fans singing it.

Same around where I sit in 207 mate, hardly any scarves either...

I had to sit in the Centenary recently.  It's only the second time and I was asked to be quiet by a woman who was there with her kids (about 3 and 5?????)  I was with some mates from our supporters branch and we were only singing with the Kop.  The only time I have heard the centenary in full song was a 2nd leg against Barca in the CL a few seasons back.

I have no problem with the CS being a stand for families but the main stand has definately become quieter over the last few years too.  Also due to cost, a lot of old regulars are selling their tickets to supporters clubs or foreigners.  This is ok and I am sure that all of the people who get these tickets really want to get into the spirit of things, but in particular the Kop has become a bit quieter too as a lot of regular voices who know the songs are not there and have been replaced with fans who go to maybe 1 game ever.  These people don't have time to get to know the songs.  They become vocal by the end of a game but are replaced the following week by another first time fan.

Wait till next season when I expect to see a lot of Season Ticket holders back in full voice.

we better make some noise next season....no excuse...we have a perch to get back on,and whilst we cant compete financially and with europe to offer...we have the ownership debacle off our back...lets get back to what were famous for..we want europe and we want the prem... there's a  lot to go at  next season, and the boys need us to raise the fucking roof...not to mention for kenny.
its his first real go at cementing a place at the helm and we dont want to let him down
fuck all this we cant do it every week and i want to watch the match malarkey...you can do both, if you cant ...get the fuck out of there ....watch it down the boozer and leave it to those who can,and will!

the away lads do there bit brilliantly.its upto us lot to keep it going at home.
