We could have seen the Tuarez combination. But with Carroll and Suarez, man, we have a beast of a strike force.

Hopefully Reina does this on him on Sunday.

How sad. Really really sad.

We are still feeling repercussions of the mistakes that were made in the past couple of years, by the useless men we were saddled with. This is not a sadness of one player leaving, it's a sadness of us losing another piece of our very magical puzzle that was being built slowly, with diligence and care. A puzzle that was nurtured by us, seemed to reflect our values, one that was righteous, special, unique, a puzzle on the edge of something magnificent. A puzzle that was then slowly dismantled while we looked on in impotent anger. And now we are left with the pain of regret, of What Could Have Been. Which is hard to heal, and will haunt us for quite awhile. The loss of the dreams we had is what hurts.

We're big boys and girls though. We'll live. It doesn't mean everything he said was a lie, it doesn't mean he never felt a connection with us. I think it just means that he is, naturally, looking out for himself. Exactly the same as when he came here. Chelsea don't have the same intangibles (or big shiny tangibles) that we do, he wont have a famous song or unique banners, he won't feel that same connection, the same echoes of glory, it certainly wouldn't be my choice in his shoes, but c'est la vie. I don't think we will ever find out all of the reasons behind the decision, it seems like he just wanted to be away from here rather then wanting to be at Chlesea, because it seems like we're on more of an ascendancy than they are. So this issue of timing, and choice of clubs almost seems like a red herring. If he wanted to go, he wanted to go, even if it doesn't make a lot of logical sense. He left his beloved boyhood club to win trophies, if he feels Chelsea is where that will happen, if he feels that he can't continue here, if the strategy our new owners rolled out wasn't going to happen quick enough, then I guess he had to go.

I wish him the best, but not with Chelsea. I hope that he ends up in another league soon. Watching him play against us will be tough.

Being petty, I hope we beat Chelsea to top four by two points.

Thanks for those two goals, Nando.
How we beat them to the top 4 on goal differential (won't happen mind) and then thanks for the two goals against them.

The fact Chelsea have just taken our chant, put some pretty poor modified lyrics to it just demonstrates everything artificial about the club. The lyrics are just there to taunt us, not support him in anyway.

What are they going to do, sing it to them like this after a game?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Rfihh4xrjU

But it comes down to this. He wanted it. So let it be.

Personal agreements must be done and paperwork filed before 11, they can include on the paperwork "subject to medical' and thats fine, which is lame but still.

A really sad day seeing him go. Fucking hero while he was here. Won't wish him well as I genuinely don't want him to win anything there, but I won't lie, it's hard to see him act like this, leave and the ensuing bitterness towards him.

He'll regret this day, and I take no pleasure from that.

Good post and sums up how I feel. I've not been bothered about him leaving all weekend but when the deal was done, I was pretty gutted because it well and truly spelled the end of the best Liverpool team I've seen. It hurts to think that we were so close to greatness and yet now we've got to start again.
£15m? It seems low, but what people have to remember is that the fee is irrelevant.
