I think it's either Federer or Murray for the win.

Henin retires again.

Such a shame.
I trust the King, but if we lose a few more on the trot now - he may have to step aside, and we have to purchase another manager in the middle of the season. If we are relegated, this could be the end of our ambitions to win any title the next 100 years.

Murray must be elated to see nadal go out, though Ferrer is playing some good tennis and it won't be easy.

Reckon Fed will beat him in the final, again.

I that's what i meant, real shame that it's come to this. Women's game is in a poor way at the mo, and it's worse without Justine.

I that's what i meant, real shame that it's come to this. Women's game is in a poor way at the mo, and it's worse without Justine.

I agree, she was a fantastic player, I think for her it was a mistake coming back at all as her body has not been able to cope with the pressure it is put under playing the game.
The womens game really lacks anyone who is capable of consistent grand slam performances outside of the Williams sisters who themselves can't be far away form packing in. There is barely any rivallries of note and it is tough to predict who will make the QF neve mind the finals when you look at the draw.
So many players over the last three or four years have flattered to decieve, had one or two good tournaments and then plummeted down the rankings. Ivanovic, Jankovic, even Sharapova, all failed to fulfill the promise they have shown in fits and starts.

Looking at the standard of the mens game compared to it, it is almost as though it is a different sport.
I got the Lucas thing wrong. Will be right on Henderson though. Play him RM, play him CM - Not good enough and never will be.

Great fightback by Li. Wozniacki just scraped ahead in the 3rd, can't be too confident yet though, with the way Li has been breaking her serve.

I don't get this.  While I really appreciate humility Federer looked almost bored as he was trampling over the men's field for a few years and in all honesty if he said something like it was a tough game against a tough opponent after smashing him effortlessly it would be more contrived than him saying he's the best and give me honest over contrived any day of the week.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

I don't understand what you're saying, but for me Federer technique is the best in the game no doubt.  I don't like him though. Before I was impartial, but it changed in one interview in the Australian Open a couple of years back where he was leaping at the chance to explain he was injured.  Even when the question was completely unrelated it would always come back to the injury (you would have to see it to believe it).  Although I admire Rafa's humility alot, I don't expect everyone to be as humble. For instance if some player simply made it known they weren't playing at 100% and that may have an effect, then I don't have a problem, but using it as the one and only excuse as to why you lost, made me lose a bit of respect for Federer as it showed a complete lack of respect to the opponent.

I haven't seen the interview that you talk of so I'll leave that aside.  I was just making the point that when a player is far and away the best, I prefer seeing them admit that they are even though it could be construed that the player is lacking in humility.  A lot of people started saying Federer was lacking in humility around the time he was dominating the field and was constantly being mentioned as the greatest of all time and I don't think he once said that he was indeed the greatest but he did insinuate that he thought he was the best in the world at times and I have no problems with that since to me it was just a case saying like it was and I think people saying Federer lacks humility is just them being unfair.

Wozzy's record when winning the first set is phenomenal.

She's usually an exception to the rule, but that was a classic WTA choke sadly, but it's just one of those things.

Nice comeback from Li. Makes it a far more interesting final now.
So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

Djokovic is playing great tennis. Great serving, and more often than not he dictates the play which isn't common against Federer. Great consistency as well, he hardly makes a mistake.

This is why I love watching tennis, the momentum can change on a single point. At the start of the second set Djokovic looked very confident, now all of a sudden it's Federer playing at the top of his game.
