Just caught up. brilliant everyone.
When you go to war, first you have to dig the trenches, then figure out the enemy's weak spots, and only when everything is in place can you fire. The hardest thing for me has been to just dig the trenches and keep my powder dry.....like bleedsred and others, I have wanted to go kill em, know where we are going, but I see now, courtesy of Roy, that until we have enough people with us in the trenches, we'll not only waste our powder, but we'll alienate the very 'moderates' that we have to reach in order to make this successful in the long term.
The logo with a che hat is lovely, but it messages "revolution", and it was because of that vibe that SOS was marginalised by the moderates, imo.
I love the Independence Day idea, but it sounds like a lot of work and organising. If it could happen, we must call it a 'Parade' and not a "march". I think that if we want american press and coverage, doing a shadow independence day parade (and fair?) might get some attention if done on 4th July, but as said above, it would have to be clearly NOT anti-american.....
Lastly, it seems that the most useful group to reach and persuade are the season ticket holders, and the waiting list names. How might we get such a list and not piss everyone off in the process? This maybe ties in with Vulmea's point about this campaign being difficult for non-facebook/twitter types ( ie most over 35 ).....I think the basic letter you send out Roy is excellent, but I see facebook and twitter and I switch off, and they are the only links offered.... so I wonder if there was a web page, maybe even a dedicated read only Rawk page, where people could go see what's happening that could be included on the letter?
On an irrelevance, nice to see Peter Russell getting a nod above. In 1982 I visited his house out in the country, and he had the first computer I had ever seen or even heard of. His book the Awakening Earth proposed the idea that the growing explosion of inter-connectedness on the earth was a direct mirror of how the human brain grows in the womb, which in the eighth month is mainly about the formation of millions of brain connections to allow for consciousness. He suggests that humanity is developing it's own 'global brain', the internet et al being the brain connections, and that obviously, once consciousness is arrived at, humanity can finally act consciously...ie. act collectively in our own self interest. Parallels our own mission here.
