good result for Arsenal, next leg will be harder without Fabregas.

and Gallas.  and Iniesta's back.  It'll be a bumming.

Messi was quiet tonight.  Very rare that he's quiet for the two ties.  He'll tear them one at the Nou Camp.

How is that a penalty? Puyol made no effort to go for ball or man, Fab got his leg tangled in Puyol's as he went to pull the trigger. Madness - that's never a penalty.
Exactly how i see it.

i expect barca to wallop them. I think arsenal could just sit back and try and nick a goal on the counter. Pretty much like they were playing tonight. They were truly outclassed and I cant see them getting that lucky again 2nd time round - especially without fabregas.

It would be a miracle if they go through based on tonight. 2-2 away i think most teams would be very happy. Although arsenal are probably the happiest tonight.

Bollocks to that, was enjoying the hell out of that until they let them back in. Can't see them getting past them in Spain though.

which is one of the reasons I think he'll never be tempted by the Real job (as well as the fact that it's a massive media circus..). At Liverpool he's fully in charge of what the team do and how they play - I don't think he'd get that at many clubs - especially not the likes of Real or Barca.
Agreed, I think he'd be a lot more at home somewhere like Bayern Munich or one of the top Italian teams if he ever left. My personal nightmare would be if Man City could somehow poach him, to be honest.

Cracking comeback from Arsenal. Walcott destroyed Barcas defence.
So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

They are both very good centre backs anyway. They are just going to be a bit rusty.
Yep. Milito has been out for almost two years and is apparently pretty sluggish at the best of times.  A glimmer of hope for arse but I can't see it happening.

urgh...........rooney's ankle sprain has made news at ten.

That is not in any way comparable.

Henry is Arsenal's greatest every player, and when he left it wasn't all his decision.

Owen fucked us over, and isn't anywhere near out greatest ever player.

Matter of opinion though.  He's a twat for going where he is, but I was disapointed when he was booed on his return with Newcastle.  He'd deserve it now though of course.

Well, for all the talk or Arsenal being a great footballing side, where were they when everything was even? They only started playing when it looked like the tie was completely lost.

He fucked us over on that contract, not sure where the grey area is. Been done to death and is old news, like Michael Owen funnily enough.

I know he's not liked now almost universally 'cos he's with the mancs, but Owen got a booing at Anfield when he came back with Newcastle - by some of the crowd anyway.  Certainly loud enough to be heard.

Fair point. I do think that's a bit different though because of the way Owen left us and what he's done since.

Exactly how i see it.
Yeah, was it you saying 'Puyol is not obliged to make room for Fabregas to shoot?'

Because that's absolutely spot on.

In fact, it's quite possible that Puyol will get that red rescinded and be available for next week.

Fucks sake ITV - did they even mention the CSKA/Inter score? I hate that. What's the point in paying for TV rights if you can't stick an extra 10 minutes onto the prog and show a bit of the other game as well? Grrr.

I'll take that, still expect Barca to win the second leg but who knows, stranger things have happened. Still, just like us to make things very difficult for ourselves. Never a red card for Puyol, not even sure it was a penalty and certainly had more blatant ones not given this season, hope his card his overturned

Outclassed for 23 minutes, found some discipline after that to restrict Barca while Nasri and Bendtner did well to create anything from the useless service they got. Furious with Vermalen and Almunia for handing them two goals in second half, two balls over the top, both horribly misread by our cb and Almunia showing poor judgment. Didn't see a way back for us to be honest, two subs used already, being outplayed, keeper reverting to his bad old form, Song have to fill in at the back...

Walcott's goal lifted us, bit of a poor shot but fine pass through by Bentdner, who was our best player by miles and set up both goals. How things turned, our passes were rushed but we finally had Barca under pressure, if only we had shown that tempo far earlier in the game. Still, a draw isn't to be sneezed it, we worked hard, kept battling and with Bendtner up front+ a bit of luck, proved to be enough

Individually, too many poor or patchy performances. Almunia kind of summed up his last few seasons, some moments of magic to make one hope he has turned the corner then making silly errors that cost us dearly. We need players to perform for 90 minutes in Barca, not for ten or 30, 90. Only our striker can claim to have done that

to be honest i agree with paul. He got his cheer when he came on but after that he plays for the opposition. I certainly wouldnt be cheering stevie g in a chelsea shirt running at our goal if it ever happened. It was quite obviously done as a piss take.
