Guide to Unirea Urziceni (Bucharest)
« on: December 18, 2009, 01:00:27 pm »
As ever, the FSF is ahead of the game and have a reasonable guide to Bucharest for any reds who will be heading out for the game with Unirea Urziceni on 25th Feb next year. For info, follow the link:

http://www.fsf.org.uk/ground-guide/international-clubs/unirea-urziceni/

We'll be adding more information over the coming two months, of course, so don't take the guide as an exhaustive list. But do check back regularly to this thread, and I'll let you know of any major updates to it.

I have just booked all my flights.

London to Valencia on the Monday....Valencia to Madrid on the Tuesday...then to Bucharest Thursday morning and back to Liverpool Friday all for under 140 quid.  Gonna be one great week away :)

Everyone else getting travel sorted ok?

Would I have to go from London airport for this one? (well, would it be cheaper)?

There were direct flights to and from earlier for 100 quid but those same routes I looked at are now double or more.  Will be a great away trip..good luck finding a way :)

Booked our flights - flying out Wed from Stansted, coming back Fri, about 80 quid each including all Taxes.
I think we'd have won the league if we'd sold Keane to Man United.

Swiss Airlines, Heathrow to Bucharest, out on the 23rd back on the 26, £160.

But there's 1 stop on the way there and back, not saying where on website. And it just says, London Airport UK on the return flight.

I think I'll hang the latch, but will be defo doing this one. Any good info, flights out of London, hotels, etc.

Had a root through that. I'm going to find an apartment, just don't know nothing about the gaff and don't want to pull a rick.

I imagine it's probably about the same stamp as Budapest... 300 nicker or round about for flight for 2, £150 or so for 3 nights in a flat.

Looking forward to it...

Try via Milan or somewhere - Sky Blue (or whatever they're called) had ridiculously cheap flights from Bergamo.

Cheers mate. Yeah my sister is a travel agent so I got her trying to find some cheap options...Pass on the word to her. Really appreciate that

I can definitely, 100% confirm that it will not be played at Tineretului (Unirea's home ground). It does not conform to the UEFA stadium regs. They played all their Champions League games in Bucharest, and the UEFA Ground Regulations are the same for Europa League as for the Champions League.

For the boring factual bit, a stadium must be rated in category 3 (one short of elite) according to the UEFA Stadium Infrastructure Regulations to host matches from the qualification play-off through to the semi-final in both the Champions League and the Europa League. A category 2 stadium is allowed to host first, second and third qualifying round fixtures.

Because their ground didn't host any CL games, it can't host any EL games.

They let Steaua play at their ground last time. Terracing and stgeps at back of ground falling to pieces, gents were the trees behind the terracing, they put some portaloo's for the women. Pissed down so hard Noah hasn't even dried his ark out yet, but they still had a water fountain at the bottom of the terrace.

And Djimi fucking Traore scored a cracker.

Mind, was dirt cheap for bottles of lager.

Had some PM's asking about my flights so figured it's safe to put them on now as it has been a few days since the draw.

Direct Flights to Bucharest from London Stansted:

OUT
Wed 24 Feb
STN 11:00 - BBU 16:15

RETURN
Fri 26 Feb
BBU 15:05 - STN 16:20

€89.98 including all Taxes

www.blueairweb.com

A couple of tips when booking:
'Mr' is Dl, 'Mrs' is Dna, 'Ms' is Dra
If you haven't got a Hotel yet, for Destination Address I just put the Stadium Address and it seemed to work OK - Bdul Ghencea 35, Sector 5, Bucharest
I think we'd have won the league if we'd sold Keane to Man United.

Going from memory i think we paid approx 20p a half litre bottle back in 2003 or was it 2004? Local bars only mind.

Still remember having food and beer in a pink villa that we thought was run by local mafia...
