Hillsborough Trial: The jury foreman has said they have not reached a unanimous verdict on either Defendant - Judge has told them he will accept a majority verdict, agreed by 10 out of the 12 members.

BREAKING: Hillsborough Trial: On the 8th day of deliberations, the jury has returned to say it has NOT reached a verdict on the manslaughter charge against ex Ch Supt David Duckenfield.

The jury hearing the prosecution for gross negligence manslaughter of the former South Yorkshire police chief superintendent David Duckenfield has failed to reach a verdict, almost 30 years after he commanded the 1989 FA Cup semi-final at Hillsborough between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, at which 96 people died.

The jury delivered a guilty verdict on the breach of safety duty charge against Graham Mackrell, the Sheffield Wednesday secretary and safety officer for the clubís Hillsborough ground at the time of the disaster.

What does that mean exactly? Neither guilty or not guilty, so not cleared, just no agreement from the jury? Will that be the end of it or will there be another trial?

Apologies if not the place to debate, just trying to establish what happens next.

Says on the Sky News article that jurors have been discharged so I imagine thatís the end of it.

BREAKING: Hillsborough: The Crown Prosecution Service has said that it WILL seek a RETRIAL of the former Ch Supt David Duckenfield for gross negligence manslaughter, after the jury in this trial failed to reach a verdict.

Judge Sir Peter Openshaw has stressed that reporting restrictions are still in place and that only the verdicts may be reported. No commentary, opinion permitted.

Came out after my post. Hopefully good news that a retrial has been sought

Duckenfield: HUNG JURY

Mackrell: GUILTY 10-2 on Charge 3 (breaching his safety duty re the number of turnstiles) NOT GUILTY on Charge 2.

Hillsborough: Almost exactly 30 years since just 7 turnstiles were allocated for 10,100 people with standing tickets to support Liverpool at Hillsborough, Sheffield Wednesday secretary Graham Mackrell has been found guilty of failing to take reasonable care of their safety.

The stadium safety officer in charge at the time of the Hillsborough disaster has been fined £6,500.

Former secretary of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, Graham Mackrell, is the first person to be convicted of an offence relating to the tragedy.

Mackrell, 69, of Stocking Pelham, Hertfordshire, failed to ensure there were enough turnstiles to prevent large crowds building up.

He was also ordered to pay £5,000 towards the prosecution costs.

Ninety-six Liverpool fans died following the crush in the central pens of the Leppings Lane terrace at the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest on 15 April 1989.
