This fine man spent this afternoon at Rowan park school presenting them with a people carrier he'd bought for them.

Giving all that money is fantastic but taking the time to go and meet the kids and the staff is priceless.

Because he's been standing between us and the forces of evil for at least the last 18 mnths, at times at great personal cost. For me, without Rafa this Club would be well on the way to becoming unrecognisable, and for this I will always be grateful.

anyone remember when Rafa was sitting in the stands because of his recuperation from surgery? I remember one game (i think away) when he was on his mobile talking to his staff down in the pit when a women wanted a photo with him and he took the time to take it. can't see ferguson, hiddnick or moyes doing that. Rafa seems like a nice chap. think he may have smiled then too...

In the later years of Houllier's stewardship it didn't seem likely that we would have a team this good for a while. We are now not only feared throughout Europe but are getting very close to domestic supremacy too.

I think the achievements I have outlined above should command respect. What makes him popular though are some of the human qualities that many people have already posted such as his relationship with the fans (making time for them, talking to them in the pub etc) and his understanding of the clubs values.

Basically, success and his personality (lame terminology I know) are a potent combination.

Perhaps, he was referring to the number of supporters who rang in to radio phone in's to spout a load of shit along the lines of 'sack Rafa, we'll never win f*ck all with him in charge' (conveniently forgetting how successful we have been with him in charge). Could be that Rafa the man is a very pleasant person.He is always pleasant and polite in interviews.

Remember his very first press conference when he got the job.Rick Parry was sitting next to him and Rafa was being introduced as Liverpool's new manager,at the end of the press conference Rafa was apologising for his poor English when Parry blurted out to Rafa..."Stop apologising"......I'm sure Rafa got the hump with him from day 1.

Rafa is a very well manered man and I'm sure he thought that was quite rude of Parry to say that.

I know I thought it was a bit off and uncalled for.
