The first two ARE essential.

There are different versions of the Massive Attack show, they broadcast the 2 hours in the wrong order, it should have started with Ecstasy of Gold, their standard intro.

I have 45' of an hour's unknown hip-hop mix Massive Attack did for Kiss FM that NYE, broadcast at 4am. Never got round to figuring out how to transfer it. Even thought I'd lost if for a few years.

Holmes' radio mix was murdered on the CD. Lawyers do that.

I don't remember being impressed by Leftfield, but DJ Shadow is usually good. ..I've got it somewhere (off The Mixing Bowl).

Eugh, I would have been tempted ot just trample on them.

That was the time when they were a normal "guitar" band - nothing wrong with that, but that album (The Bends) and their dire, dire dire, first album Pablo Honey were justr generic music (bands like Muse to me are just the unevolved Radiohead).

After this they started experimenting and OK computer was their leap from beyond the ordinary, after being lauded around because of this great album they followed it up with another completely off the wall number in Kid A (no singles, no videos) and a collection of songs from the same period later on (Amnesiac) they're not as good as they once were but still produce top quality albums.

Problem is you go to a concert doesn;t matter whether it's small (Manchester Appollo) or huge (Old Trafford cricket ground) you still get the twats who cling to them from the time of the commercial early albums and want to hear nothing more, lad in front of us with earings and skinny jeans was quickly "moved along" after shouting "Play creep, play creep".

Oh aye,havnt a clue about newer stuff.just remember from the Times i went to indie clubs and couldnt stand the Divs

Might love the newer stuff ? like i said. the fans i saw and witnessed in clubs put me right off.

Thats a nice track though,and dont get me wrong i actually liked some of the stuff i heard at the time.but what i witnessed put me off investing in them further

I like them a lot, I have to say, and you're right - it's only the later experimental stuff (mostly through James Lavelle etc).

Capon mate, they released their last single "Reckoner" as the original 'strands' and had a competition online to see who did the best remix. Apparently you could get them for standard Windows tools or Garageband. They're an interesting bunch Degs, eh?

I'll second what Capon says mate - post it if it's even tenuously linked please. It massively improves my morning commute!

I havent read all of this thread, but, i'm currently loving Aesop Rock's None Shalt Pass, and the old Roots Manuva's Brand New Second Hand is pivotal to those in this thread.

Always had a soft spot for a bit of Bjork too. Hunted, Play Dead. awesome compositions. Even Jackson's Who Is It and Stranger In Moscow are good dark tunes. Mos Def's Modern Marvel.
