Michael Robinson

Joe Fagan brought Republic of Ireland international striker Michael Robinson to Anfield in the summer of 1983. He was signed from Brighton and Hove Albion for 250,000, and in his first season at the club Liverpool clinched their first treble!

Robinson certainly contributed as the third striker and at times Fagan experimented with Kenny Dalglish just behind Robinson and Ian Rush. One of Robinson's personal highlights of the 1983-84 season came when he scored a superb hat-trick at Upton Park in a 3-1 win at West Ham United.

Robinson also appeared in the first all-Merseyside final at Wembley when he came on as substitute for Craig Johnston, but did not feature in the replay. He also appeared as a substitute, this time for Kenny Dalglish, in the European Cup Final triumph over Roma in Rome.

Frustrated by a lack of first team opportunities the following season Robinson moved to Queens Park Rangers in December 1984, and fate decreed that he returned to Anfield for the Milk Cup semi-final in 1986, which Rangers won on away goals. He left Loftus Road in 1987 to join former Red team-mate Sammy Lee at Osasuna in Spain.

After retiring from the game Robinson is now a much respected pundit and commentator for Spanish television.

I'm quite happy, none of the 4 players I have had in mind have gone yet, lets hope Phil doesn't trip me up but I think i'll be quite happy with my final team. The question is, do I fuck up other peoples selections with one of mine that I know some people will be after or do I go for the alternative which may or may not be better balanced? decisions decisions!
