Our saving grace is that we are usually shit on the road and play decent at home. We have 2 home games in a row coming up so if we can win them then hopefully some confidence can run through the team. I'm not confident of a win until we get Smeltz back. Mclaren looked brilliant in pre-season scoring a few goals but has barely had an impact so far.

William Gallas to Perth, gotta be happy about that. Another great addition to the league.

Yep. Fantastic signing considering how shit our defence has been so far. Him and Thwaite will be massive.

I think this is brilliant.  I try to explain to my rugby loving mates why i follow this sport and this pretty much sums it up.  Hopefully the message spreads and more and more people get involved with football in Australia.

Was nailed on he'd get the job eventually.

He's stabbed enough managers of the club in the back and survived he was bound to get it eventually.

Surprised it took so long to be honest. It's just a stepping stone to get a job in England. It's always been about him and the money.

Some game between Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory not on BT Sports.

28 minutes gone and Melbourne have battled from 2-0 down in 15 minutes to level 2-2.

Marc Warren sent of for Sydney.

I like to keep an eye on the game down under. Some talented players who I reckon could make the grade over here.

Fair to say that the powers that be only allowed me the first half and Peppa Pig now reigns supreme on the tv.

Interested to get your thoughts on who could make it in Europe seeing as the national team is a right old mess full of old, overrated has-beens.

He actually makes words up, the silly fucker. His love for Sydney FC is a bit of a pain in the arse but his enthusiasm for the league overall is great. Love or loathe him, you have to give him that much. An excitable chap, is Mr. Harper.

Big game today. We've got a good record down at Blue Tongue. Still think CCM can sneak it though.

Great game last night, too. Never thought Sydney would hold on, considering the season they've had thus far. Maybe it could be a turning point for them?

His love of Newcastle is way worse. It almost sounds like he has one hand on his dick the whole game when he commentates them.

Fucking useless officiating again by A-League refs. Dunno why I even bother any more.

Fucking useless officiating again by A-League refs. Dunno why I even bother any more.

To be fair, there are useless refs at every level, as we only know too well from the last game Liverpool played, but yeah, theirs are pretty bad. It seems every single week the outcome of one game or another is dependant on a referee, and that is far too frequent. Whilst their are bad descisions in, pretty much every league and cup, you don't see them anywhere near as frequently in other competitions. It isn't just Australia that has the problem though, the MLS has a similar issue.
Both because of the recent improvement in overall quality with a faster speed of play, with Australia specifically, I think its because the refs are only part time (which is only really suited to Conference level at the highest) but its now a fully professional league and played to a decent (roughly league 2/better teams league 1) standard, so the refs simply cannot keep up with play anymore.

They (Aus and NZ) need to make them full time, but they need training, so maybe an exchange deal with us (England) or another English speaking country with a decent league and standard of refereeing (like Norway or Denmark or Holland say?) for a year or two till they have enough refs that are trained, experienced and have good feedback at that level?

I don't think it will happen soon sadly, the FFA are busy with the World Cup campaign and setting up the All Australia cup thing next year, and the Asain cup thing in 2015, and I don't think they can do more than one big thing at once.

I went, Melbourne looked extremely toothless up front. You know you're struggling when you start to miss Archie Thompson. They need to look for a decent striker to replace him.

Brisbane's passing and movement was brilliant. As someone that is somewhat new to the A-League (I've gone to the past 3 Melbourne games), Brisbane were the best looking side. It was as if they were a team from Europe they were that much a class above Melbourne.

Even Del Piero on half a leg is still better than all of the Sydney players. Did you see his face, he was filthy, he didnt want to come off.
