Your head will hopefully realise you are massively overstaffed on Monday and come up with a better plan. Otherwise, it's time to speak to your union as that is ridiculous.

This. Your head sounds stupid.

Feeling much better now. Only 20 kids came in so the SLT team are drawing a rota up and have said their aim is to keep staff at home wherever possible and have an absolute minimal staff number in. On the negative side our online teaching system has crashed!...

Maybe suggest switching to 4 hours once a fortnight, so that people have a full 14 days isolation in between to make sure they are well?

We have 1.

And he’s really irritating.

Still.  I will only need to see him once in a blue moon!

Missus school have 8.

They’ve rota’d to have 5 or 6 staff in daily inc 2 admin staff, which I find utterly ridiculous. They’d spend a max of 1 hour with the kids but have to stay in school the entire day. Currently looks about once every 2 weeks.

Just weird.

Why are they making them come in.  The advice is very clear.  Don’t go to work if you don’t have to.

But who else will look after the 8 kids of presumably (hopefully!) key workers? If they couldn’t get to school then their parents wouldn’t be able to get to their jobs?

Fully appreciate it’s a messed up, unclear situation. My wife is probably going to have to go in at some point next  week as they’re drawing up a rota at the moment.

I think he's prob more got an issue with both the number (5 or 6 for 8 kids is overkill) and then also forcing them to stay in work for an entire day when only looking after the kids for an hour.

You need two staff for that.  Making others come in is an unnecessary risk to everyone.

You do need a first aider and a dsl on site at all times though which complicates things.

For small numbers you only need a DSL available ... which is easier.

Anyway, I made my first videos today.

Phone held in a clamp stand over a piece of A3 and then I filmed my self talking and drawing.  Worked quite well.

Uploaded to One Drive and shared with the kids that way.   I’m very glad we got office 365 this year, it’s made this all so much easier.

I’m hearing lots with firefly down.

We just use office 365 and class charts.  Working well.

So, school building closed tomorrow till after Easter as two staff had symptoms of Covid-19. Quite gutted actually. Really enjoyed school the last few days. Got to know some students much better and we had lots of fun.

As all 50 have got EHCPs, 10 of those are CiC. It was much easier having them on site. Now it's bit of a logistical nightmare as we're working remotely from home. Expected to do daily welfare calls which could be bit of a pain!

Thanks for that debs...

I’m going to go mad at Easter. How will I fill, my time?

I kept myself really busy last week.  I’ve done lessons by filming on my iPad as I draw on A3 paper.

Sort of chalk and talk if you like.  Not ideal, but it helps unpack ideas with the kids.  I’m going out try a zoom meeting with the sixth form sometime this week.  Feels really odd not to be seeing kids for so long...

I'd have loved to do chemistry in my final 2yrs at school but our teacher went on maternity leave and they couldn't find a replacement so I had to make do with biology instead.
