That was when Dwight and Michael went to stay with Ryan in New York wasn't it? "I've been watching The Wire recently..i don't understand a word of it"... so maybe it'll be a running joke that he doesn't understand anything that Idris Elba says!

It will be good if there's some sort of reference to Holly as well, given that Amy Ryan played Beadie. Maybe Elba's character can say he knew her in his previous job or something!
Thank you Jurgen

Sorry, but I think the US version is horrible. Watched a few episodes and couldn't stand it. Absolutely love the original though.

Thats your problem then, its a slow burner but becomes addictive.

BUT, the new episode just felt like the whole second series of the UK version condensed into 20mins for me :(

Yep, it was basically the "Neil" storyline packed into an episode, and I don't like it when they take the UK storylines personally

Absolutely love this programme. Only just got right up-to-date having re-watched every episode.

Not been too impressed with the last few episodes though, but get the feeling it's building to some very entertaining storylines.

The upcoming episodes look like they have the potential to pick up the recent lack of quality.

Dream Team
After getting off on the wrong foot with his new supervisor, Charles (Idris Elba), Jim finds himself face to face with the new boss in a soccer game in the Dunder Mifflin parking lot. Meanwhile, Michael, afraid to face the workday, has trouble leaving his house.

The Michael Scott Paper Company
Dwight and Andy strike up an unlikely friendship and plan a hunting trip. Regional Supervisor Charles (Idris Elba) asks Jim for a "rundown" and Jim spends his day trying to figure out what that is. Michael hosts a Paper & Pancakes luncheon.

His standup is quite good though, I think

The problem with his stand up, is that he is playing the Brent role again.

Last couple of episodes have been decent. I'm glad the producers of the show have decided to shake it up a bit and take it off a slightly different tangent for a few episodes.

Meanwhile, the companion show 'Parks and Recreation', created by one of the executive producers- Greg Daniels, just started airing. It stars Amy Poehler and Rashida Jones, and is pretty much The Office, except it's set in city hall instead of a small paper company. Amy Poehler plays a character that could be the female Michael Scott. Pilot looks promising, and Rashida Jones is a pretty good reason to give any show a chance.

I thought they were kinda poor. Not really a fan of the whole Michael Scott paper company thing, it's kind of depressing really.

I think the Guardian were right a few months back when they suggested the show should be dealing more with the current economic downturn in its episodes. Like the later Simpsons episodes, it now seems to have become more about the zany, illogical antics of the lead character.

I don't really think that the thematic relevance of the show is what's been hurting it recently but rather that it hasn't been as funny for one reason or another, and there haven't been any compelling character stories going on.

One of my favourite little scenes is when Jim comes to work dressed like Dwight then vice versa

Wasn't overly impressed by either of them, although the second was better than the first.

It's all becoming a little too unbelievable for me and the intended source of humour seems to have been moved from the interactions between the characters in various situations to the increasingly stupid (even by his standards) actions of Michael.

New episode's out, and I think it's the best one for about 10 episodes. Quite cheesy and incredibly unrealistic, but I enjoyed it. Some very funny moments too

caught up with a few of them last week.

this series is really lacking though compared to the previous ones.

I do like the new dynamic with the new boss though and the reintroduction of ryan.

Edit: Actually I just checked, 6 more episodes.
