To all the auld arses on Shanklyboy's thread (you know who you are!):                                                                                             Wishing you and indeed all Liverpool fans many congratulations on your magnificent achievement in becoming World Club Champions.

Additionally, enjoy a lovely Christmas and all the very best wishes for 2020. 5 further punishing years of Tory rule is what we face and they've already ripped up workers rights to sick pay and holiday pay. It won't be pretty and there will be casualties - sadly, a great many.

But stand firm as ever the cities of Liverpool and Manchester have done against those who would take us back 5 generations and lock our people firmly beneath the Tory yoke. Stay strong against every injustice, keep the faith burning bright and always keep hoping and keep fighting our Tory "masters". Hope and solidarity is all we have left against the fascist Tories whose aim is to happily crush the working class. God bless all!

I met some boss lads in Katowice last week. City lads from East Manc or somewhere. I had a few bevvies with them at the Chrimbo Market and we gets chatting about footie and the rest of the stuff which lead to Hillsborough and that. When I started going on about the injustice of it all and was quite clearly getting emotional the one who was listening to me most got welled up too. He hugged me. He wasn't blagging .

It's only right that ANY decent human being sees the injustice of Hillsborough Kesey. Stick all the footie rivalry well to one side when ANY injustice has been delivered! Compassion and class solidarity trumps all else.

That's so true. Me and these lads most probably would've been side by side in the trenches in 1916 or something. Wasn't there a Liverpool and Manc regiment in the First World War ?

Hello.
I'm here as well.
Busy concentrating on this wonderful footy team of ours at the moment.
Flying to Britain at the weekend, Air France Munich to Paris, hope it doesn't get cancelled due to someone striking, then Flybe Paris to Exeter, hope it doesn't get cancelled due to them going bust.
Going to visit my Mum. She's got Sky so I wont miss the match. She's still a sport fanatic at 92.
Hope you're all well.

i think we are all inclined to lose focus from time to time, i tend to leave dealing with things then have a day when i sort everything out like some high speed juggernaut, yeah FS is much missed in here Johnno , anyway on the plus side City being dumped out of Europe is great for the 5th team in the prem

What a bloody pity it isn't MY team in 5th Geoff!! Need to get their act together and soon but more fundamentally, we desperately need to get rid of the Glazers and all their hangers-on. So amateurish and frankly, appallingly shoddy.

Johnno, we knew long ago that clubs were selling their souls to the devil when money became all important. More traditional owners once felt something for the club and the team as against current owners who abuse the lifeblood of the game, the fans, treating them and their passion as a means of lining their pockets, meaning that things could easily go belly up. I must admit that the way Liverpool fans saw through Hicks and Gillett to go on to forming Spirit of Shankly standing up against the owners, was something those involved should be very proud of, as supporters we are indebted to them and their influence carries on till today.
Will the fans of Man Utd not do their own thing to try to gain some influence that will make the Glazerís sit up and take notice, or does previous success mean that ship has sailed? If they want things to change they will have to try to find a way to make life uncomfortable for the Glazers by hitting  them where it hurts most, their pockets.

We`ve all known they are selfish carpetbaggers bleeding the club dry, but when they didnt spend any money giving the stadium a lick of paint or fixing the leaky roof when times were good, well alarm bells should have been ringing. Not sure what you can do to get rid unless they take cash from (most likely) some objectionable sorts.

Sad news today about the death of another legend (even if not for us) Harry Gregg a hero in every sense of the word, especially at the Munich crash.

Indeed so - Harry was a hero and a life-saver that awful day in Munich and he is revered by all United fans. He'd not long been at the club of course transferring from Doncaster to United in December 1957 just weeks before the Munich disaster.
RIP Big Harry, reunited with the Babes and only Bobby Charlton remains now.

It pains me to say it's looking like our cherished auld arse thread is close to giving up the ghost, Ah well, suppose it gives credence to the old adage that "All good things must come to an end."

IF this is really its time, I want to pay my tribute to its inspirational founder Ray. RIP mate, long and ever missed. Good wishes and salutations to all you auld arses wherever you might now be. Thanks for the great memories, real love of the game and genuine, warm down-to-earth wit !

I hope not Jonno, maybe as age continues to catch up with us all we tend to hibernate a little longer. I do wish we still had Leo stirring the pot as only he can, the lad is a diamond and sets up many a page of conversation and response but there are many other fine contributors such as yourself.
I plead guilty as accused and on the back of that I will make more of an effort to contribute more, this thread is far to valuable to give up on.

Iím lucky from the aspect that the treatment is good (private via health insurance) and Iíve got support but I could have done without this bloody carry on.  >:(

I've got diverticular disease and had a bad episode after eating spicy food in Dubai on our second night there, when we went for the wifes 40th. Almost 50c temps and I've got the world falling out of my arse.
4 of us went the Burj Al Arab for indulgent afternoon tea on the Sunday, everything I ate made an almost immediate appearance. Me and the fella who turns the taps on for you in the loos were best mates by the end, I'd been in there that often. The hotel wanted to call their on site paramedic, but the missus was having none of that !!!

My stepdad broke his foot an hour after getting to his hotel in Tenerife, had a trip to the capital to have surgery and spent two weeks in a cast.

I don't do photos but wifey took about a thousand and quite naturally, being a Chelsea fan, missed it.

But I plan on going back - and there should be seven stars by then.

Anybody on this forum ever taken ill on holiday? Iím away at the moment and go and develop a problem with a kidney stone. If youíve had them, youíll know what a bloody nuisance they are. Iím getting treatment at a local hospital, had to stay overnight, do tests etc and attend a follow up appointment next week. Iím lucky from the aspect that the treatment is good (private via health insurance) and Iíve got support but I could have done without this bloody carry on.  >:(

I've had kidney stones and they are excruciating.  Comparable to child birth according to those who've had both.

I was fortunate in that though I was on holiday, I was only in Scotland so not in foreign climes but I was doing a mega-trek at the time doing all the Munros.  The severe drought didn't help as there were no sources of water on the mountains themselves so you were limited to what you could carry and obviously that added massively to the weight that needed to be carried, especially for overnight camps.
It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it.

Bloody hell Keith!! Hope things are now on the pathway to recovery mate!
There is nothing wrong with striving to win, so long as you don't set the prize above the game. There can be no dishonour in defeat nor any conceit in victory. What matters above all is that the team plays in the right spirit, with skill, courage, fair play,no favour and the result accepted without bitterness. Sir Matt Busby CBE KCSG 1909-1994
