You've just cost me ten minutes I'll never get back. I read the lot. But anyway... we all know it's a thankless task, but here's me problem... I've actually been out there all morning defending Carragher and Dalglish's choice of playing him. I'll do that till I'm blue in the face. But over the last few months, I've seen people getting shushed and censored for simply not toeing that line. I think it's a shame. I think RAWK, and the club, are big enough to handle all opinion's. but, yeah, it is going round in circles now. I'll leave it at that, but I stand by what I've said. Not pretending everything in the garden is rosy, is not slatting the club without reason. The whole bloody game is corrupt and some of us like to moan about that from time to time.

Leo,

Yes we all have time away from the place i think, otherwise we'd go mental. I'll be on and off a lot over the coming year as i have a few courses to do work wise which will take up much more of my free time.

We have to unfortunately treat everyone the same when it comes to moderating, whether we want to or not, however there is usually a bit more leeway from looking at how the people post on the boards. We have a few who are currently on the verge of going purely down to ramming their point of view down peoples throats all the time.
Jon mate, I'm not having a dig at the site or any of the mods. I'm really not. I've been allowed far too much leeway at times. I know that. And I'm sure some of you's even agree with some of the things you have to pull. The place will never be perfect, I think we all know and accept that. And I've said all I can on it now anyway. I don't take any of it back, but I do understand you have a right job on your hands. If it was me moding, I'd be getting addresses and paying people visits never mind shushing them.

Don't worry, we don't always agree in the staff room,on how we all moderate as we are all different but still want the same or similar things, but all back each other up on how something has been moderated. Doesn't mean things don't get changed after the event once the 'red mist' has gone away.

Anyway, real life calls and need to get some ibuprofen gel for my dodgy knees.

I've just spent awhile in the Is Dalglish ruthless thread. Sadly, since H&G, Hodgson and Purslow went west, some people tend to think anything negative amounts to heresy. That's crap. The day we can't speak our opinions honestly is the day the whole site might aswell be shut. I'm content with what's going on at the club. I think Dalglish being hired was the only thing that stopped civil war. I'm still gutted how Rafa was treated. I make no bones about that. In my book, a little something died the day we turned crook on him. But I was really happy to see Kenny brought back. The club doesn't exist for me. I want  Dalglish to make the people happy. But I don't think a little truth, as we see it, is going to upset the apple cart. And I don't want to single out any individual posters, but when I see certain people attacking others and questioning their loyalty... well, let's just say, it's sort of ironic. And I some times think the mods are shushing the wrong people.

I think you've nailed the nub of it there. While clearly it was not unanimous I think that the majority of the mods were equally gutted that Rafa was forced out the way he was.  And I agree totally that what followed on here was nigh on civil war for 6 months until Kenny was appointed.

However, and I guess this is where we depart in our opinions, in January of this year we decided that given we had new owners and a new manager that everyone could get behind it was time to bury the hatchets of the past.  We needed to stop the sniping, wipe the slate clean and start afresh.  That remains our policy, and that is why we are clamping down on posters who cannot leave behind the battles of the past.  It's not censorship, the debates are up in full on the site many times over, just a view that the site needs to be able to move on. That we need to be able to discuss things like Carragher's performances and whether he should be dropped based on his current performances rather than on things that happened in Rafa's final season.

Things are looking up, lets look forwards and enjoy it rather than dwelling on the arguments of the past.

Back to the offer to take us back to where we belong (there's a youtubish song like that).

I was going to ask if I could add a Today in History post in teh thread.  Matches played in life time of the auld gets. That might generate the football chat desired.  But then if we're in ho-ho hum land I don t know.

Feels well funny here. :'( And not laughing like

If I could throw my tuppence worth in, I’d agree with Albie, in that moving the thread to ‘off topic’ did seem like some sort of punishment at the time, as there was only me and Fats who’d posted here after the match and my comment was a tongue in cheek reply to Leo’s post about padlocks because I’d just seen a poster had been banned after calling John C a ‘bellend’, hence my comment.

If that did upset anyone in anyway then I apologise, it was in no way meant to cause offence.

As for moving round the forum and educating, all I’d say is that this thread recently has had a lot of ‘bumps’ because it had dropped down the page, so I don’t think it’s a case of being forever camped in here besides which I’m not sure we’d be able to educate posters who have agendas.

Can we all be friends again now  ;)

Kev, I can only speak for meself. When Kenny was given the job I went out me way to say what a good thing that was for the club. I still believe that. I think it was a stroke of genius as only Kenny could have brought it all to a conclusion. The press/media will never attack him. The fans are more or less totally behind him. I couldn't think of a better outcome after all the turmoil. But, as we all know, Kenny isn't the saint some make him out to be. I think that's mainly done by people who don't know the man as a player or from when he first managed us. But as I've said, I'm happy with that. I'd hate it if Kenny was just some nice guy. A successful team needs a ruthless manager. So, I have nothing bad to be said on the subject. As with Carra, I'm not trying to slate the lad because of some sort of personal agenda. I've been out there defending him all morning. But, far as I'm concerned, he's getting past it now. He'll have to be replaced for that reason soon enough. And I think that's a bit of the problem. Just talking common sense is enough to kick some people off and have the shouts of Heresy going up. Oh well, it is what it is. There's no changing it and I wouldn't thank you for your job. But as I've said all along, I think RAWK and LFC are big enough to handle a wee bit of criticism from time to time.

Can't argue with any of that Leo, I'm just trying to get a point across that on the Carra/Rafa thing (or any other squabble that dredges up the past) if we lock it or warn users, it is not censorship based on thinking someone is above criticism, it's just a desire to move forward rather than dwell on the past and for the forum it's an attempt to keep discussion going without them sinking into slanging matches over the same topics as the last slanging match only a week ago.

It's like South Africa and it's truth and reconciliation commission.  It's no longer really important what happened in the past, what happens in the future is what matters.

Only just spotted this mate.
That was the year me and me mate progressed from going in the paddock with his Dad to being trusted to going on the Kop.
His Dad would always meet us outside the Albert, God love him.
I remember that day like it was yesterday.
I don't think anybody wanted to leave the ground after Shanks showed off the League trophy to us.
Truly magical days and when Shanks left and Bob took over it became a regular thing to see that wonderful trophy being paraded around the ground.

There's nothing to come home for just now.

I watched that clip of Shanks. I've seen it loads of times. I can't honestly remember if I was there. It's starting to worry me this. I really am getting that aul fella's thing. They take the piss out of me something chronic for it here. But I'm already doing that searching for me bins thing when they're on me head and things like that. I shouldn't be moaning about nights. I'll be in the B an Q shaking paint before I know it.

I have just seen a promo clip on tv for a country & western cd which
included a few seconds of Johnny Cash singing Folsom Prison Blues.
My thought was that our resident singer/song writer could change
the words to Goodison Park blues.

The world has gone mad! Just been out with the dog, bloody big scardey cat afraid of the wind he is. As I'm walking along the path there were a dozen conkers just lying there! Now this is 2 minutes from a Junior School and loads of the kids walk past that way. Well I had no choice and have come home with a pocket full, much to her disgust, and they are coming into work with me tomorrow. Kids walking past conkers - we're all doomed!

I heard conker fighting is now availlable on XBOX.

never really liked the conkers thing - might have been cos there were no conker trees by us - well there was no trees near us to be honest - by the time I could range far enough to find them I think I was too old for 'em - must have been 5 by then.......there was always some kid with a cheat though - like boiling them in vinegar or using a really small hole or aiming for your knuckles.........

that got me thinking about some other stuff though I used to walk to school at 5, on me own, sometime with my brother, across two huge dual carriage ways, about a mile maybe slightly less - winter, summer, snow , rain whatever - dont think kids do that anymore - they all seem to be dropped off in huge 4x4's - picked up likewise and then kept indoors all evening - they dont really get a chance to pick up conkers - think kids these days would be eaten alive, squashed on the road and lost within 200 yards of their house.

Gettin chased by Lord Derbys henchmen when getting conkers was scary, but strangely exciting, as a kid.

I'm not sure I'd even seen a proper horse before then apart from the raggy that used to come round with his horse and cart. Never realised the fuckers would be so fast.

Sad really, Even my own lad hardly goes out, by the time I was 12 like many on here I was going to aways, bunking trains etc My lads mates are 13/14 and I can't imagine dropping them in London and them being able to get back with no money, they're nice kids and not really that streetwise, don't know what the answer is either because they'd get eaten alive if they hung around the streets with the money available with selling drugs the level of acceptable violence has snowballed for kids these days, what we solved with sticks and stones can easily end up with knives to guns and as sad as I am they don't have the freedom we had, part of me's glad they don't hang around the streets because I know how nasty things can be today.

you were chased by a bloke on  horse? I'd have paid to see that - just how old are you? d'you remember Robin Hood?

yep streetwise that was the word - you used to know where not to go on your tod, what time of day such a such a street was alright, which houses had cranky gits in, when to leg it, when to keep your head down, which shops would cut your hands off or call the plod, mmmmm good days - think parents are frowned upon now if they let their kids out - then we wonder why they all end up maladjusted, living in isolation and there's no sense of
community - I knew every kid in my road growing up and probably everty kid roughly my age within about half a mile - played footy in the street whatever -- hows that work now? My mum knows everybody who lives in her street - the name of their kids, what illnesses jobs etc etc etc - i dont even know me neighbours name and they moved in 6 months ago -

The isolation of neighbours from each other is a product of the last 2 decades in my opinion.

It used to be said that Notherners were friendlier than their Southern counterparts - but I'm never so sure about that to be honest. My sister says us Northerners are just nosier than the more reserved southerners ! ;) ;)

We've all of us become almost introverted by the many diffferent distractions in our personal lives (all doodling on computers, playing on Wii's, or exercising in the house and other stuff like that) that we've forgotten how we used to observe the normal neighbourly courtesies that once were part of our every day experience and learned at our mothers knee.

By the time most all of us have recalled those former less distracting times, it's probably not unusual to find there are new neighbours next door .....

Terrible indictment of upward-mobility and creeping indifference eh? That Wii's going in the bin......... :P :P
