I know its a bit of a cop out, but we've had four experienced managers here and he's played on loan for a few more and not one of them has really fancied giving him a key role on a permanent basis.

I think if we'd sorted another domestic loan for him after Norwich then he might have had a better chance here, but again its hard to disagree with the likes of Rafa, Kenny and Brendan. All have needed the sort of player Pacecho is, but haven't used him. There must be a reason for it?

I am starting to think he will never make it with us, hope i am wrong but he must look around and see other players overtaking him in the pecking order for us and there is some even better ones to come through soon.
The National Pensioners Convention (NPC) is the principal organisation representing pensioners in the United Kingdom. It is made up of around 1,000 bodies representing 1.5 million members, organised into federal regional units.

Nice goal too!

For the record, it's not fair to say that Rafa didn't rate him. He was still very young at the time Rafa was in charge, and he looked to be introducing him into the first team squad with intermittent appearances off the bench in Champions League and Premier League matches. But the point still remains valid - if his 3 most recent managers haven't deemed him worthy for even the odd appearance on the bench of the first team, there must be something he's not doing right. Has just always been a strange one as he's looked very good when he's played, and represented Spain at every youth level. Really hope he does well elsewhere as it seems he'll never make it here.

Strange that everyone don't support the same team.
Liverpool manager Rafael Benítez admitted after the match that the manner of his side's victory had stunned him and he stated: "My problem is that I don't have words to express the things that I feel at this moment"

One of the big mysteries. Always wondered why none of the managers fancied him in their teams :/

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Funny how some people constantly point out Rafa when mentioning the managers who didn't favour Pacheco. As I can recall he was only 18 when playing under Rafa and got the most amount of appearences for us while playing under him as well. Also heard Rafa mention a few times that he rated Pacheco. Also the only kids who got a chance under Kenny were all English.

he took that goal well, maybe this loan spell in Spain can determine his immediate future, he's not been given any chance under Rogers in the first team, however his application to make the managers decisions more difficult may not be occuring

Glad that Dani got a game and made an immediate impact though.  Hope he can get a good few months in for them playing every week.

My point was that goalkeeping can be poor in any league any division. Doesn't take away from the finish.

I don't think the Sunderland keeper was at fault for the Suarez goal, I do think the keeper was at fault for the Pacheco goal.  That's the crux.

If you think those two finishes were the same then we are done here.

Not much difference. The keeper narrowed the angle, but didn't expect the attacker to shoot and so was more on the back foot, prepared to move for the cross. The attacker makes sure he hits it high, so the keeper is wrong footed and can only wave a hand at it and because the ball is hit high, the ball doesn't hit it. If the keeper only has to cover the shot, he'd probably not have been wrong footed. But it takes skill to hit the target from that angle, and even more so, audacity to try it. Pacheco backed himself to do it, and he's seen Suarez successfully do it.

"If you think those two finishes were the same then we are done here."

I wasn't aware we were talking about their overall games. I thought we were talking about the two individual finishes, hence me talking about the POVs of the attacker and the keeper and what they were trying to do in that situation. Hell, I could drag in some stuff about playing as a keeper in 5 a side games and deliberately leaving a side open when facing an angle, thus prompting the attacker to shoot to that side and making it easy for me to react. Or how when the attacker decided to shoot to the side I was covering, I was wrong footed and could do no more than stick a hand out and hope the ball hit it.

Nobody is ripping the lad to bits and I believe my post actually included a sentence that was more or less word for word what Red Isle Chap said.  However I don't see how anyone can watch that video snippet without thinking "Keeper!"

Both keepers were sort of at fault, but at the same time they can hardly be blamed for not expecting the attacker to shoot from there. The percentage ball in both cases was the chipped cross to the other attacker in the middle, and the keeper has to be ready for that as well as covering the angle from the shot.

You misunderstand I meant go watch the clips of both goals.

The Suarez chance the keeper anticipates the cross, and moves slightly away from his post.  Suarez drive it with real pace and with the outside of the boot so it fades between the keeper and the post before the keeper has time to react.  It is a brilliant finish.

The Pacheco chance he gets past the player really well and does fantastically to keep his balance and composure and hit the target from where he is but the keeper makes it easy for him by going to ground very early and allowing him to lift it over him.  The keeper stays on his feet and there is no goal.  Pacheco does not beat him with pace or rely on the keeper anticipating the cross he just lifts and curls the ball into the net and is able to do so because the keeper is on his arse on the byeline.

That's not an attack on Pacheco just recognition that the keeper allowed him to make the finish he did

Suarez's goal was possible because the goalkeeper moved to cut out the cross, Pacheco's goal was possible because the keeper hit the deck early.

Both were bad decisions by the keeper, and great reactions to punish them.

Not really.  There was no reason for the keeper to go to ground.  Moving to cut out the cross on the other hand was a reasonable thing to do on the balance of probabilities.  It is not as if he left a gaping gap at his near post that was easy to exploit.

Mea culpa then, I got it wrong.

No worries it was my ambiguous invitation to go and watch them both that caused the confusion.

Not really.  There was no reason for the keeper to go to ground.  Moving to cut out the cross on the other hand was a reasonable thing to do on the balance of probabilities.  It is not as if he left a gaping gap at his near post that was easy to exploit.
What does that matter? It's still a mistake by both goalies, it's means that cannot cover their goal. Once the keeper leaves a gap it's up to the player to exploit it, both do it very well.
Why are you looking past this season?

Can you read.  I explicitly said I don't think the Sunderland keeper made a mistake.  Fucking hell has everyone got mindfuck hangovers today or what?

He conceded from an acute angle, of course he was at fault.
