I always think of Adam Pepper when these youngsters get released.

He seemingly had the world at his feet, a very talented midfielder for the youth team. I can even recall him scoring an audacious "Alonso" against Bolton or Blackburn a few years back, yet he was released.

A good young 'un doesn't always make a first teamer, I guess, no matter how talented they see to be.

A club could do much worse than to pick up Gainford.

Once he fills out a bit and perhaps learns to back himself a bit more he's got a lot of what you'd look for from a winger.

His decision making and end product are up there. Knows how to drop his shoulder as well.

He'll be ok.

I'd take him at Stags. Just someone to bring on at the club and develop.

We've took 15 year old Croatian player Silvio Malkoc on trial.

"I was pleased also with Peter Crouch. We have been talking to him, before and after his nose operation, to show more confidence with his heading.

"Now it seems to have worked. Lets say that if he has a few games without scoring again, maybe we should arrange to break his nose again."

Could do with him being a holding/defensive midfielder then.

Always though pepper was over rated, there was an article written about him when he was 12 or so saying he had broken Michael Owen goal scoring record and that he was destined to be a superstar. He was decent scored a few special goals but so did hamill and highdale. Highdale was a far classier player than pepper he would set the tempo and was a really good passer, tackler and could finish. It was such a shame what happened that he never fulfilled his potential.

Regarding sinclair. We don't have any other striker for the u18's currently so he will probably play for the u18 unless we bring in some. We have yesil, Morgan and armin for the u21's.

There is little point talking about kids on trial it's silly season in this regards. Lots of kids have trials with 4-5 top clubs so it can be a real lottery.

What is your problem. You don't have to agree with what I say. Please discuss without having a go or just simply ignore me if you don't I'm stupid. You decide.

ok I'll try a second time they dont say I'm almost saint like for nothing

I told you the problem you just need to think - If I wasn't intersted in what you posted I wouldn't comment at all -  I'm not doubting your passion or you sincerity, its refreshing in many ways but you come out with some drivel sometimes which undermines the good stuff you can do -

example:

"Just because joe cole is rubbish that doesn't mean adjoran is the answer."

Nowt wrong with that whether I agree about joe cole or not doesn't matter. Please see below.

"You may need to change your philosophy if you don't have players to fit."

Again its good, 'you may', its not 'you have to' or 'you must', I'm right, your wrong, or this is the only way.

"With regards having one fit striker it should have being pachecho not ngoo that was given the opportunity. "

Dont agree for a number of reasons but you're entitled to your opinion. No probs with that.

"Too much rubbish is written on here i.e. comparing coady to an England international that has 100 plus epl games (hendo) and joa Carlos to coutinho."

Now in isolation I dont have  a problem with that either but Hendo may have a 100 epl games and be an international but so does/is Joe Cole - and you've just written a couple of lines up that Joe Cole is rubbish. So if Joe Cole can be rubbish but have 100 epl games and be an england international why can't Henderson be rubbish and therefore compared with anybody. You've just buggered your own argument haven't you?

You just need to think before you type sometimes - just my opinion like - you can ignore me if you like, most people do. You decide.

Being linked with Tiago Ilori the Sporting Lisbon centerback. He played for their NextGen team against us in the group stages last season and looks to have made it through to their first team this year. They're absolutely fucked though and we're a vulture picking the carcass. No idea if he'd be for the first team or the U21s. Presumably somewhere between the two. He was born in london and speaks perfect English too.

Echo have confirmed that today, Juan. Say he's more one for the future than expected to hit the ground running in the first team, just as you thought.

They're probably already good enough to get into the first team in the MLS, and will likely earn a better living over there than in League 2 or whatever here. It's a good move and broadens their horizons. The route back to Europe's more open nowadays too.

Gainford and Quirk confirmed on Twitter they are heading to the US.

Someone asked Gainford who he was playing with and he answered that he hasnt decided yet so it looks as if he has options.

Will be very interesting to see just where exactly they end up and how things develop.

The US isnt exactly the worst place in the world to end up.

Could be either (unless either has said specifically, which I doubt). The MLS draft is in January, so they could just be coming to train and trial with teams until that happens, or they could be trying to get a scholarship to a university and play there for a few years before entering the MLS draft (or even going back to Europe).

Not sure. However from the article below, when it mentions a US scout taking released youngsters to the US

Quote
For Nathan Quirk there was no alternative. Even if he had the grades, which he didn’t, he was not interested in going to college. A player of tenacity and skill, who stood head and shoulders above the rest as he strode through midfield, setting up both goals for his team, he remained optimistic.

So I'd very much doubt if Quirk is going the university route. Don't know if its an option for Gainford.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rochdale/10040121/All-roads-lead-to-Rochdale-for-the-youngsters-playing-at-footballs-last-chance-saloon.html

Maybe someone who knows more about the US setup might have a clue as to what sort of options there are are likely to be for the two lads. Both the lads turn 19 in a few months so it will be interesting to see what happens next.

If they are coming to the US, its most likely they'd get a scholarship at a university and play there before trying to enter the MLS draft or going back to Europe. Assuming the universities think they're good enough, I doubt their past grades will be much of an issue to them getting scholarships, as long as they've at least graduated.

I'm sure they'll be good enough. Easily. Lads who play amatuer football can get scholarships over there. The standard isn't great in the grand scheme of things.
