Goodison on the Water
« on: July 24, 2001, 04:25:37 pm »
So, a new home for the Toffees and Kenwright wants to call it 'Goodison on the Water'!!! Obviously the man has a sense of humour (and God knows he needs one), but surely this is just asking for plenty of cracks along the lines of 'somewhere new for us to piss on them'.

Still, Everton will have a new 55,000 seater state-of-the-art stadium.  More grist for Mr Neve's mill, the start of an Everton revival or just a half empty turkey (except when we're playing there!)?

What does everyone think?

Everton will have 49% of it. That's the crux. Multinational entertainments megacorp SFX will have 51%. If Everton can't get the football right, they'll just buy them out, or buy the club. There's still the public consultation phase to be gone through yet - it's at least four years off, probably five. They could be a Conference side by then.

As its right next to the river, aren't rivers @ sea level? So wont it be flooded in the next 20-40 years anyway?

Oh and that revolutionary new slide in pitch they want, when its out of the ground im gonna take my dog to have a shit on the turf.

When the chants of 'going down' 'going down' are heard next year, will this mean the team or the new stadium? There has never been a better phrase to be used now than that of Everton are up the creek without a paddle, considering they will be needing paddles anyway.

On the water? Makes you wonder what the meaning of "row 1" will be in the future...

About the extra 20,000 fans; since the place will suffer from flooding, it's good to have lots of extra space. When water level goes up, you can move your crowd upwards too!

I love liverpool and the kop. Its great for me cos I live in Newquay so I get to watch the super reds on telly (every game - Im no part timer) while still enjoying the nice weather (apart from foot and mouth!!!!!). Would your website be interested in a picture of me with my badges? I have hundreds. Me and my mates are having a flag day at our local pub in honour of that lad who topped himself cos he couldnt get a ticket to see the mighty's. Great website - keep up the good work.

dear badgeman, did you get enough sterotypes in there, just not subtle enough, go back to WSAG because you won't enjoy it over here you just won't be able to keep your little heysel & hillsborough comments to youself and the frustration will become unbearable :-[
