An Observation
« on: July 31, 2001, 01:23:37 pm »
I don't know if anyone notived that I haven't been around for a couple of days, I doubt anyone did, but I was in Devon visiting relatives.

Anyway, I was in Teignmouth a small typical british sea side resort i.e a shit hole full of very unattractive people and Man Utd fans.

However when walking along the beach and past the pier and counted 5 Man U shirts and 7 Liverpool shirts. All of the liverpool shirts were either the current red one or the news white one. I may be being synical but I can't help thinking this sudden swing in Liverpool shirts against Man Utd shirts in this area has something to do with our success last season. I was hoping we wouldn't get a lot of glory supporters after the trble but I suppose it was inevitable.

I may be talking a load of crap, and if the lad who was wearing the new shirt with treble 01 on the back is in here I apologize.

good point!  ;D
I'm in no posistion to judge them anyway, but I do walk past them I wonder whether or not they know what goes with that red shirt they have on, (or white or yellow or ecru or whatever the fuck it is) I wonder whether they realise the history, the passion and the support that is behind that shirt. I just have the feeling that most don't.
still as you said it's giving the club money....... for a new stadium I expect!

We don't need plastic supporters. >:( >:( >:(

Just guys like these who have been there through thick and thin.

After all, it's hard enough to get tickets these days.

yeah but I doubt the lot i'm on about ever go to games, so why not let them buy Owen car stickers and Liverpool curtains, it all helps the club.

Is it not a bit patronising to be so flippant about so called glory hunt support?
Of the millions of Liverpool supporters how many have origins in the city?
It doesn't matter how fervent an out of town supporter has become, it is a fair bet that some where down the line he supports the Reds because either he or his forefathers where glory hunters.
Don't knock the prospect of future die-hard support by dismissing them as only a meal ticket.

I live in Witlshire and have no connections with Liverpool.
Nuff said.
