Remember when Seth Johnson turned down LFC to join Derby (great career move!)? Looks like Leeds have another young, talented, tough, English player. Not sure if he'll get many games on the left of their midfield with Kewell around - the reason he turned us down was he didn't want to be a fullback. Could it be that Kewell switches to the right if Bowyer 'goes down'?
Leeds agree £7m fee for Johnson
Tuesday October 16, 2001
Leeds United have agreed a £7m fee with Derby for their England international Seth Johnson.
The news was confirmed by Leeds's official website, who said the 22-year-old Johnson would travel to Elland Road on Wednesday to complete the transfer, the value of which could rise to £9m after appearance-linked bonuses.
Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale said: "I can confirm we've had a bid accepted by Derby County for Seth Johnson and been given permission to talk to the player. He will travel up to Yorkshire for talks tomorrow."
Johnson, who agreed a new three-year deal with Derby in the summer, will not be eligible for Thursday night's Uefa Cup second round first leg tie against French side Troyes, however.
If the Johnson deal goes through it would take David O'Leary's spending since taking over from George Graham past the £84.3m mark.
