Start the thread then, plenty of people will be looking for recommends and stuff. Might be better off in the Liverpool Life forum, to centralise it if anything.

We're planning doing our bathroom so will be on the lookout for good recommendations meself soon.

That's fair enough then mate. I've just seen or had to follow on from so many cowboys over the years that it's hard not to be wary. Only last week I tiled a bathroom after first of all what can only be described as the crappiest wall patching up I've ever seen and secondly the worst plumbing work I've had the misfortune to have to tile  over/around. Both nice fellas and shiny new vans and gear but fucking shite at their jobs. The sad thing is that they actually think they've done a good job. Anyway rant over, I feel better now ;D

I've learned to plaster a wall. Took me a while. Christ, the first few times I needed to belt sand it. Now, I'm pretty confident. Did a pair of alcoves recently and they were flat flush. Perfect. No filler needed. Can't pretend I could earn a living off it, but I've sure as hell learned enough to take the mystique out of it. Think I'll be building the extension myself. Hired a digger recently, piece of piss. 'It's so difficult to operate a digger.' Is it my arse.

I was hoping I could get some help with plastering a window reveal. There's roughly a 80mm gap at the head of the window between the frame and inner leaf block which is packed with mineral wool, how do I go about plastering the gap containing the mineral wool?

Cheers in advance  :wave

This is the head of the window (sorry for shite picture), it's essentially; outer-leaf block/window frame -> mineral wool -> PIR insulation board -> inner-leaf block

Had a bit of a nightmare this morning. My drive slopes down towards the house. The snow this morning has caused it to slide down and take a nice chunk out of the wall under the living room window. Anyone know what sort of a job this would be to fix? I really do not want to involve insurance as I can’t stand dealing with that racket. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is it just a sand and cement render , it doesn’t look like a Krend type of render , is it pre coloured or do you have to paint it

Edit on looking at the other pics is it some form of coved feature or have you hit more than one position

I think it’s sand and cement. Needs painted. I only hit it from the one spot. Car came in at a bit of an angle. Probably would have been better if it hit straight on.

One interesting and useless fact about plastering is that you can tell if the plasterer was right handed or left handed.
No matter  how good they are they will leave faint lines in the plaster that curl off up to the left or right.
If a line curls off up to the left the plasterer was left handed and if a line curls off up to the right then the plasterer was right handed.
I told you it was useless :)
