Saw them last night at Koko in London. First time in an age. Fabulous gig. Band as tight as you can imagine, and they all seemed to be enjoying it. Expect them to be sacked very soon.

The version of Bury was incendiary. Just as it really got going and the crowd were going berserk, he ended it. Typical MES. Can't play to the gallery too much. God love him.

Didn't even know there was a Fall thread on here, only found this while browsing for online articles.

Apart from the odd single, I'd never been a big fan after I first heard them over 20 years ago, but lately I've just had to submit and give in.
I've been on an epic Fall binge this past week, lots of material to get through that I hadn't heard.
Can't believe it's taken me so long.

I've been listening to about 10 albums plus some sessions and live stuff, interviews, documentaries etc.
Youtube was made for The Fall.
At the mo I'm liking Curious Oranj, Shift-work, Fall Heads Roll, The Real New Fall LP and Perverted by Language.
Saving Hex till later, as it seems to be a fan favourite.
There seems to be at least 2 or 3 tracks on every album that are just gold and it's great being to explore a back catalogue that is so vast.
Considering how the music industry has changed, it's unlikely we'll ever see their like again.

Loving the Peel sessions, the guitar on this one just pops out of the mix much more so than the original.
It's killer stuff.

One of the first singles i owned and a favourite was Bingo Masters Breakout.
Three great racks.  Bingo Masters Breakout, Psycho Mafia and Repetition.

Saw them a few years ago (2002/2003?) on a drunken night in Sheffield.

The gig started about half a hour late while the road crew were looking for MES (eventually tracked him to one of the local boozers nearby). Once the gig started, MES took the band off the stage for a while after the first song, as he thought the crowd weren't getting into enough ('it's not f***ing Pop Idol y'know')....they did eventually come back on though, was a good gig.

I remember reading a story that when The Clash gave "Bankrobber" to the execs at Epic Records, one of them chimed that it was unreleasable as it sounded like all of David Bowie's records spliced together and played backwards. This always reminds me of that story, because this song sounds like all the best bits from Tago Mago, Ege Bamyasi and Future Days, blended together and played at the wrong speed.

The Fall are quite simply the best English band ever.
I got the first single when it came out because of the cover, didn't know the band, and wore out the grooves I played it so much.
The best thing is I kind of lost touch in the late nineties and I'm now catching up, some albums to get through!
My personal favourite is Dragnet, their second lp, wonderful tinny scratchy production and some of his best lyrics.
The drummer at the time dressed as a teddy boy, loved that!
The latest , Ersatz GB is a goodun, once you get used to Mark E's gargling vocal.
Went to see them at the Indigo2 a while back, shit hot band and MES twiddling with the amp settings, disappearing offstage , singing one song sitting down, total one off.
If anyone hasn't read his book, get it now, it's hilarious.
We are the Fall-ah!

Don't get too miffed if he walks on for 5 minutes then fucks off again. It's a bit of a toss up - tho I think that's become mythologised slightly - even if I've been stung occasionally. The band'll turn up - no doubt on that. I doubt they'll play many 'oldies', tho they'll do the odd one. Mr Pharmacist usually gets an airing, and at the mo, Strychnine is getting one (which I think stands as one of the weaker Fall covers, in that it's arguably the only one which they didn't better, and I'd say the Cramps cover was better than the Falls. Still bloody great tho.) They're doing Container Drivers from the Grotesque LP tho^. Blindness was a favourite for a while.

Nah. These days he's there for most of it. Then about half way through, when the band - who are phenomenal at the moment - are locked into a groove he'll be off out the back for a fag. Maybe let the missus sing one. Then he's back.

If there's a boozer near the gig, he'll be in it. Always a good idea to have a pint there if you want to skip the support, and leave when Mark does. He'll be on after a quick wazz and a fag...Though don't push your luck. Mate of mine once asked when he was on as he sat sozzled in the corner. His reply?

'15 minutes later now for asking me that you c*nt.'

Haven't seen them for a couple of years, but the band have carried him along. Whatever it is, they've still got it.

Was singing this today:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/mTKCKBu8CLI?version=3&amp;amp;hl=en_US" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="bbc_link bbc_flash_disabled new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/mTKCKBu8CLI?version=3&amp;amp;hl=en_US</a>

A filthy, ugly, Fall tune. But just hits the underpinning spot.

Repetition, what a song, one of the oldies but goodies.
Couple of me mates were trying to get me into Dire bloody Straits when this was on my turntable!
Wasn't it on the bside of their debut single?

It was yeah... I thank their website for that - had to check it out: http://www.visi.com/fall/ (really is a good website). They had some great b-sides.

Had a quick scroll thru there tonight and tried to wonder what I'd pick as a favourite track from each LP. I thought about doing a post on here about it - and dropping a youtube video to each song - but just thought it would take too long and wouldn't be interesting at all. What I did find interesting is that I don't know their Levitate LP of 1997 at all.

Ten Houses Of Eve / Masquerade / Hurricane Edward / I'm A Mummy / The Quartet Of Doc Shanley / Jap Kid / 4 1/2 Inch / Spencer Must Die / Jungle Rock / Ol' Gang / Tragic Days / I Come And Stand At Your Door / Levitate / Everybody But Myself

I think I know 2 songs of that LP. (I have about 20 Fall LP's- one or 2 in CD). I looked up 'Ol' Gang' on youtube and it was a tough listen, and I wasn't in the mood for it - but I knew I would like it. And now on second listen... yeah... it's great! Opening with the line 'Walking down the street just the other night...' two mins in, like some retro 80's type.

Flicking thru the list of LP's tho and wondering which I'd pick threw up a number of questions in my head - as it always does - and I get a bit bored of 'best' songs - like being stuck in a pub and being asked by someone you don't know whether you think Ronaldo or Messi is a better footballer. BUT... this dropped out like a clanger when looking thru Are You Are Missing Winner...

Would love to have this one live.

Some tracks which will probably feature on RE-Mit (as different versions) were released as an EP for Record Store Day.

"Sir William Wray" in particular has got me excited. It's funny how if you haven't listened to the Fall for a while and then you hear a new song, just how fresh they sound.
