Went to AvB and Jochen Miller at the Academy in Brixton last night - just an amazing night - so many moments to cherish forever.

Armin doing a mash-up of Coldplay's Yellow and Simon Patterson's Miss You was just fucking mind-blowing!!!

It was a fucking furnace though - couldn't believe the number of middle-aged wannabes which were there!!!

I'm often debating with mates whether that period round late nineties/early noughties really was as good as we thought for tunes at the time, or were we just being over-nostalgic. The fact that it always seems to be tunes from that period that still get played yet, or tunes from that era that get remixed for re-release now says a lot I suppose.

Seems to me it's one of those masterpieces that even people who don't normally listen to EDM would be able to appreciate.

I think its a hard one to answer. I think there were less tunes around back then because less people had the technology needed to produce tracks. But, I think they were of a higher quality and thats why we're still seeing them being rereleased and remixed now

I think that's part of the problem now too mate. While it's good to have more choice, the fact there is so much music nowadays and it's so easy made, it's all so throwaway and less personal. When you bought a vinyl years ago, you paid up to a tenner for one tune, but you might have played it for six months soild. Never mind the fact that if you were putting a record out, you better be sure it's worth it simply due to the costs involved.

Today, you could have a tune up on the net in a matter of hours, if it takes off, good. If not, no biggie, I'll have another one ready in a week or so. Also, because there is so much volume of new tunes, you spend most your time sifting through the shite to get the decent ones, and by the time you've done that and familiarised yourself with them, there's another twenty odd to go through. No last-ability, except for the odd few brilliant ones.
