I think FSC (Fox Soccer Channel) is showing the game. Check out this website http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/802092 as it list bars in Vegas that show that channel.

Here's my take on all this..( especially if you go to my original post)...

Setanta is the driving focus in what we get to see in the USA.

Fox Soccer Channel apparently will still have two matches on Saturday and at least one Sunday, along with the Monday night --and probably other Premiership weekday fixtures.

Shane originally responded contracts were in the offering..maybe Dish and Cable providers are still negotiating..who knows. Or they've said no.

But Setanta also has broadband  broadcasts availability on their website.,,

So what if the top matches are on the Setanta channel instead of FSC?

What if FSC gets Spurs v Villa and Liverpool v Everton is only available on Setanta ( Directv) or PPV at the pub or internet...

Not everyone has a pub nearby who shows Setanta football programming. And not everyone has broadband or internet ( like my Mum).

Somehow someway...we'll get screwed over coverage if all one does is rely on FSC...that's my take.

I'm more interested in if any of the Pre-season games will be shown Stateside.... anybody? or can I find it on sketchy Chinese website?

The remaining 3 pre-season tour games are all on Setanta.

No that was pretty much it.  Setanta USA is only available on Direct TV as of today.  If what is posted above is true and Setanta gets two games from Fox Sports world  then I am not sure I would be that much affected.

Last season two games were always on Pay-Per-view.  I never paid for those in the first place and just streamed those game from the web.  Now if those move to Setanta and are no longer on Pay-Per-view than I will still be streaming them on the net.  No real change.

So unless you bought a season Pay-Per-View package than this would not affect you.  I just hope FOX Sports world maintains its 3 games on Saturday, 1 Sunday, 1 Monday routine.  If they do then I am fine.

I am lucky enough to have DirecTV & FSC. I would occasionally pay for a FSC PPV to see us. This cost at least $16, and sometimes $20. If those PPV games will now transfer to Setanta, isn't the $12 / month fee for Setanta a deal?

H.C., would you (or someone else in here with DirecTV) tell me how much you're paying for your service per month?  Feel free not to answer but as someone who may switch over, I'm really trying to figure out how much more it's going to cost me.  With Dish at least, FSC is part of its "basic" package.  Don't DirecTV subscribers pay extra for it?  As well as the added cost of leasing equipment (I own my Dish equipment), my obligatory HBO subscription and the $11.99 on top for Setanta, it's sounding like it'll be close to $100 per month by the end of it - I'm not paying anywhere near that at the moment with my current service.

You do have a very good point though about the PPV expense; that'll save me $300 right off the bat.

Connie - yes FSC was in a sports package. I have a silly number of unwatched baseball channels and so many regional Fox Sports channels its not funny.

I do not know, however, how much that package is.

www.directv.com will tell you.

I have a house full of teenagers. Its an evil place to live. To help keep the peace, I have every channel package going except the porn and US sport subscriptions (other than the one that also gives me FSC). For that i.e. All the 'Premium' channels I pay about $100.

Base, HBO and the FSC pack should be a lot less.

Look for a deal where the kit and installation are free. Did offerthis recently (after I just paid for it) for up to three rooms.

Cheers

ConnieLFC..

Wait until August 1st....before you price out Directv.

Sean of Setanta said wait until then....if you're thinking about switching.. in an email to me. Sounds like some sort of package or discount deal for "new" subscribers after the end of July. He wouldn't be more specific than that..

This would truly suck if FSC lose out on games.  If it means only losing out on Pay-Per-View than I am fine but if it mean FSC reduce the number of games they show than this will hurt.  Hope they have this settled soon.

It just to occurred to me that there is another option - Liverpool TV (the 3-hour weekly broadcast, shown on GolTV here in N. America).  Every LFC league match is normally shown the during that week's LFCTV broadcast.  (LFCTV also showed the Crewe friendly on today's episode.)  Unless this changes during the coming season (which I don't imagine it will), I'm personally even more inclined to just watch a live stream (or head to The 11th Street Bar) for the matches Setanta picks up, then watch/tape the rebroadcast on LFCTV a couple of days later.  I know I can't be too anti-Murdoch if I'm so dependent upon FSC, but I really do object to having to switch to DirecTV and putting more money in his coffers.  Same for Setanta.

The 11st bar is a great option. I was in NY for the derby. It was fun to be there.

Sorry to bump this but anyone heard anything?   It's August 1 and no info anywhere about what's happening this season on the Setanta or Fox Soccer websites, whether on PPV or not.

I see Setanta modified its ad on the SoccerTV website:  it no longer lists anything about showing English Premier League matches (before it said "two matches most weekends").  Also an interesting note was that listing used to be under the Setanta Premium portion of the ad, which isn't the Setanta service that's available to residential customers anyway.

Looking like the same ol' same ol' - which is fine by me!  If FSC wants to show the Sat 10am/Sun 11am as well, I can live with that...

FSC just announced a deal with MLS.  Now while I couldn't care less about this deal it seems that they are in the process of finalizing there overall deals.  Would expect an announcement shortly.

If you go to FSC's schedules I found this:

http://www2.foxsports.com/world/pdf/fsw34.pdf

On this schedule it has the following games being shown:

Aug 19th 10am Newcastle V Wigan, 12pm Bolton V Spurs & 3pm Reading V Boro.

Aug 20th 11am Chelsea V Man Utd (it should be City not Utd).

Not sure there has been no announcement with regards to the games Setanta are supposed to be showing.

I've checked as well..

Setanta claimed just wait....but I don't see any updates on Setanta or Directv ...

What I do see is Setanta broadband being $11.99 per month or $119 per year.

Wonder if they will show the same schedule as the Setanta Channel that Directv has?
Haven't taken the time to sort that out yet..

I think i'll wait until the week before the Premiership starts to get the schedules off Setanta ( broadband or channel) and FSW and see what the difference or benefits are.

Fox Soccer Channel won't be showing a live LFC game until mid October.  It is because so many LFC games kick off at 7:45 AM EST (12:45 BST).  FSC dosn't have the rights to the early games.  This also means I'll have to wake up early after a Friday night out, dammit!

I'll look into setanta broadband and keep trusty old TvAnts.

Sent this before I went to work today:

Shane:

Hate to be a pest..lol

I looked at Setanta's website and Directv's last night...nothing to indicate anything special about signing up.

Is it possible to spill the beans on what Setanta will offer yet?

Who will have the "early" kickoffs live--12:30, 12:45 pm in England Premiership matches?

Will there be any PPV available for the match of the day for Saturday and Sunday as in the past?

I don't want the hassle of switching to Directv until i know what the benefits are regarding the Premiership..

Thanx again for your help.

So there isn't any straight forward announcements about who is showing what beteeen Setanta and Fox Soccer Channel.

As our first few fixtures are the 12:45pm kickoff.....it would be nice to know if we'll have them broadcast to watch. Or just listen via E-season ticket...

Just got this from Soccertv. com editor.  I sent them an email yesterday and they responded.  Doesn't look to good for us as Liverpool will never be a 4th choice match.

Setanta gets Saturdays 7:30am ET, 1st and 3rd choice matches on Saturdays at
10am ET, Sundays at 8:30am ET, and 1st choice of matches on Tuesdays-Fridays.

FSC gets 2nd and 4th choice on Saturdays at 10am ET, Saturdays 12noon ET,
Sundays 11am ET, Mondays 3pm ET, and 2nd choice of matches on Tuesdays-Fridays.

Looks like Fox will show mostly Tottenham, Newcastle, Bolton type games on Saturdays and get the big game on Sunday.

Setanta will get the big games on Saturday.

Which means Liverpool will mostly be on Setanta.

This sucks.

Wait, I don't understand - so Setanta will be showing Saturday 10am games as well?  I reckon we could be "2nd choice" in that slot (which means FSC) but I'm surprised the two channels are going head-to-head like that.  Hmm, that's far more games than I expected Setanta to carry - will really have to think about this now.   And why is there still nothing on the Setanta website???

The only problem with the fall back of going to the 11th Street Bar to catch Setanta games is the $10 or $20 cover charge to get in the door.  Add that to the $30 that you spend on pints and suddenly your weekly excursions to the pub begin to empty the bank account  :(

Does the LFC TV weekly program on GolTV rebroadcast Champs Lge matches, FA Cup, or Carling Cup?

Brooklyn, Setanta *seems* to be claiming on its website that it will not be asking for a cover charge this season (see the bolded portion on the page):  Setanta Sports.  Whether this turns out to be true, we'll find out on the 19th, I reckon.  You're right that it adds up - that $10 could go towards two Stellas!   ;D

As far as LFCTV goes, I'm pretty certain they do not rebroadcast Champions League or FA Cup matches.  League Cup is possible, I just don't remember from last season.

Does FSC keep F.A. Cup matches? They had them last year, except for the PPV ones. Champions League matches belong to ESPN. Setanta had League Cup matches last year: it's how I found out about it. Resorted to listening to the games on .tv But then again, we didn't do too well there last year, did we?  ;D

Otherwise, this is not good news. Not good news at all. Unless my digital cable system adds Setanta to its programming. They only added FSC two years ago, and GolTV last year.

Actually, I will just resort to free P2P programs.  They work fine, no need to pay for anything.  But I would prefer it to be on TV.

I'm doing FLF as well, but as many have said, I'd like the option of watching/taping matches to keep if I choose.   I'm too used to taping everything, I've got a whole library of games from the last 7-8 seasons; it's hard to imagine not having the option of "keeping" a broadcast-quality match if I want.  F***!  I hate this.  Thanks all for the updates - not so long ago (in the mid 90s) we were lucky to get a Liverpool game over here 5 or 6 times a season!  Now we've got to be on every week - junkies we are (not that I'd have it any other way, but yes you have to pay for your addictions).  4Pool, tell Shane another 11.99 is on the way (*@!*^#)...

To right there..we are junkies of LFC...lol.

I'm like you, got loads of video tapes of matches. Just bought a DVD recorder and have transferred some to DVD from my Dish Network PVR..So if you need a DVD of the CL final or FA Cup..;)

But I MUCH prefer tv broadcast to the dodgy internet sites.

I even try to set my travel schedule around matches so that I make sure I can listen to the mid week ones off e-season ticket...

junkies we are..lol

I've got 2 Panasonic DVD recorders (one has an added hard drive as I went through hell part of last season with my Dish PVR.  The hard drive stopped working, meaning the entire unit became useless; no picture, no channel guide, nada, so be forewarned....   I've also got a multiregion DVD player, so I am about as wired up as I can get, but at least have managed to replace about 20-30 LFC VHS tapes with, oh 50 DVDs!  ;D

Anyway back on topic - there is *still* no word on the Setanta site - I assume there is no chance that the EPL thing isn't happening even though it hasn't been formally announced, right?  I guess I'll start pricing it out and see about getting installation next weekend.

Has the "fact" that Setanta Broadband will not be showing Premier League matches been confirmed?  I have to admit I didn't like it when I read..."Setanta Broadband is a new service from Setanta that shows some of the great action available on Setanta Sports, allowing you to watch it on your home or work computer."

But when you click the link to sign up you get..."In addition to the LIVE soccer seen on Setanta Broadband...there is a comprehensive ARCHIVE of the FA Cup...".  I was about to drop $119 for the annual subscription, but without confirmation they will actually show anything I actually would want to see regularly (No offense to all of the Irish Football and Hurling fans out there), I can't see signing up as being worthwhile.

Although watching the games from P2P sites or freefootie blah blah blah is a sound alternative, I too am the proud owner of a DVD recorder who wants the option of recording matches for posterity.  Suppose the $5 a month for GolTV is the best option.

I am also relieved to feel that I am not the only fanatical LFC supporter who purchased a Region Free DVD player simply so that I could purchase and view each and every Liverpool DVD I could find - is amazing how few are available for Region 1 players!

Cheers.

Watch the preview of the broadband. Not only is it stuttery as shit, but it does not list the Premiership. They do have our preseason stuff, though.

Thanks for the tip RedferLife!  I didn't realize I could watch the Coca Cola championship...it might be worth the $119 to watch Steve Bruce scowl his way through a failed promotion campaign  ;)

Geez.. I thought I was the only one off the deep end.. ;D

I bought a JVC all region DVD player a few years back so i could watch DVD's from the CLub.

Just bought a LG RC199H June 1st. $299. ( Best Buy)

This has both DVD and VHS recording capability. Plus one touch recording if I want to transfer my VHS tapes to DVD.

However, as an added bonus it also plays my DVD's from England...so I would guess it is region free as well.

I am using the HDMI cable connector to my Sony tv which is High Def ready.
( the connector cable is extra..does not come with the unit. So bought a Monster cable Ultra 600 another $100.)

But the picture quality is very good... :wave

All because of the Mighty Reds..... :scarf
