What's the second photo? Looks like a cemetary of some sort?
Yes it's a war cemetary in Adenkerke just over the Belgian border from France, it's mainly full of Belgian & French graves but there's also some UK solder's there, including a member of the family.

Ace bus mate, used to own a 76 Devon and a 79 Super Viking.  Just didn't have the time to fight off the rust and the annual engine rebuild.

Been down to Vanfest a couple of times, and drove from Warrington to Monaco and back in 2001. Brilliant times!

Funnily enough, I've been down to Padstow for about 3 years on the run in the summer. Took the shot below of the ferry from Rock. In fact that street scene that you've got going slightly downhill, so a U-ey where the two roads meet and the apartments we were staying in were just there :)

Tip with your camera, try a UV filter or circular polariser on there if one is available, those sunny Cornish days don't half put out a load of haze. Top pics though, the bus melted my heart!

Wish I could claim the bus as me own...But unfortunately it's not :( These surfer dudes rocked up so thought I'd take advantage...Didn't park it in the greatest spot for me tho ;)

Cheers for the tip too - Much appreciated :)

Claire. Any advice on a decent digital camera that will give me varying image effect based on how I take the picture, that won't overly break the bank

Nikon D50 Black + 18-55mm Lens Kit - £350 delivered. I'm a Canon man myself, but that price for that quality is just remarkable!

Taken in March 2001, Flat Iron Building in NYC.  Taken on a standard APS camera and then scaned in, just love it.....

Some really great shots in their people - thanks for sharing. Will try and get a couple on soon. Love photography - thinking of going into it and doing something I really like doing rather than working for workings sake.

Especially love NZ shots (did I spot Lake Mathison in there?), Mt. Fuji - brilliant, Eagle shot - brilliant, Sea of Red - Fantastic shot in Istanbul, Sydney Zoo - love the backdrop! and Monument Valley. Got close to there, but soooooo gutted I didn't go and see it. Might have to make another trip in a few years time.

What lens/camera/filter combo are you using there Bob, plenty of vignetting going on?...Nice pics regardless mind.

I agree - damn birds were too close! I was digiscoping - using a coolpix 995 with a dca adaptter on a swarovski ats80hd. So there's digital zoom in the camera, and 20x on the scope, yet the birds were only 50m - 150m from me. So the camera zoom was as low as 1.6x - especially for the Little Ringed Plover pic, the bird was very close, hence the vignetting - it only really fully disappears at 2.8x +. But the pics are as taken, not tweaked at all, hence you noticing it! I can't be arsed with editing them, I only take them as record shots really. It's  not every day you see a spotted redshank on your doorstep; little ringed plovers too are noticeable, although one or two pairs do breed locally.

Any advice appreciated, though! I've only taken all this up this year, just used good old binoculars before! Also timiano, I notice that you say that you post your pics elsewhere - did you mean on RAWK or another site? I'm interested in bird photo sites ...

I like the vignetting on those pics, the darkening at the corners seem to make the birds stand out more... I might have a go at some wildlife pictures, their are loads of breeding birds at the local canal, might be time to dust off the slr and have another go at photography.

I've got a couple of pics I took in Paris which I like. Might get the scanner going later on and post them up here.

Great thread idea this one.
Well, I don't know what it is, but there's definitely something going on upstairs

If I was you, I'd go canon. I'm a Canon man too!

You'd probably get a 300D for very good money now, and it's an excellent camera.

(note that second one is without lenses)

pic below is one I quite like, taken recently with a standard 300D - conditions were really dark, in a local engineering works, and I hadn't took a tripod, so it could have been better...

2. Sunset in Fiji
3. Mount Everest

photoshop > image > image size (800 x 1200 @ 72 dpi is fine) and the go to save for web, pick .jpg at about 40, and then save themunder a different filename (so as nopt to overwrite your original)

I have mate, but they're either in albums or boxed away for the time being until we get the house together!! Was a cracking place wasn't it. I took that shot from a microlite that you could go on from the nearby airport - brilliant experience, but cacked me pants when he stalled the engine a couple of times (on purpose!) to nosedive and glide for a bit  :o

Thanks mate - have to be honest, I do like showing them off, but the main thing is I haven't rammed them down my mates' throats. Some of them haven't seen the shots and I went travelling 7 years ago! I don't mind though.

The pictures I have posted are 100% mine. My wife is actually in the shot of "The Beach" in Thailand! (A bit like Ursula Andress if I might say, for those old enough to remember her!)
