RIP Barry Humphries
« on: April 22, 2023, 01:36:04 pm »
https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2023/apr/22/barry-humphries-dies-australian-comedian-death-dead-dame-edna-everage-sir-les-patterson

I'll never forget walking into the room when my wife was watching the Will & Kate wedding and hearing Dame Edna musing, "to think, somewhere out there, sitting in a bean bag and watching this... is Fergie".

Farewell to a dead set Aussie legend.

Ah first Lilly and now Edna? Two legends of sardonic humour lost.

RIP Barrie.

Besides being a phenomenal performer he was a cultural icon and commentator when not on stage.

Always loved Sir Les for representing the yin to Dame Edna's yang.
And all the world is football shaped, It's just for me to kick in space. And I can see, hear, smell, touch, taste.

Very sad, RIP Barry, a real original talent.
Had the pleasure of seeing him on stage at the Regal theatre in Perth OZ about 30 odd year ago.
Thanks for the great laughs mate.

Preferred the Les Patterson character to Edna personally.

One of those entertainers with the rare gift of being funny across generations. Loved seeing him on a chat show with other celebrities as he was so unpredictable as Edna Everage, and could skewer people mercilessly with a cheeky glint in his eye.

RIP

Saw Dame Edna / Barry at the Empire about 35 years ago, still one of the funniest shows I ever saw. RIP
