Leaves you feeling sick to the pit of your stomach. The maddest thing is that this doesn’t happen more often. I remember seeing a video from the Notting Hill Carnival this year that looked moments away from people being crushed to death too. How is stuff like this happening in this day and age?

Only yesterday a client said she and some friends left an Octoberfest event a couple weeks of weeks ago after about half an hour due to feeling unsafe.

We've never talked football but she said she looked round and Hillsborough came straight into her head and they got the hell out of there.

Saw some news earlier, but they didn't have any numbers. So many who haven't come home from a night out.

Notting Hill is a disaster waiting to happen, I've been caught in very scary crushes there on a couple of occasions.

The news from Seoul is horrific. No words.

Absolutely horrific in both the number of people killed and injured and how young many were.

Rest in Peace to all those people, most of them in their 20s, who lost their lives, and thoughts to the many who were injured or terrified to be in the middle of it all. Just a terrible, senseless tragedy.

It’s awful isn’t it. It is horrifying what has been put on Twitter and how easy and accessible the distressing footage is for all to see.

I do wish they’d stop reporting this as a “stampede”. I know on here we’re likely to be more sensitive to the language used around events such as this, but the way tragic events like this are framed is really important in the immediate aftermath. And despite the direct translation of some witness testimonies using something like that word, nothing in the rest of the evidence suggests it was anything other than a crush caused by the mismanagement of crowds. To frame it as a stampede puts the blame on the victims. Doesn’t sit right with me and it has jarred with me every time I’ve seen it.
