Carlsberg Man of the Season Award
« on: May 17, 2011, 02:35:52 pm »
Step up... Mr. Dirk Kuyt.

http://www.clickliverpool.com/clocked/celeb-stories/1213343-liverpool-fc-end-of-season-party-held-in-palm-sugar.html

Even the rain and a dismal performance against Tottenham Hotspur couldn't dampen the spirits of Liverpool FC stars and fans as they attended an early end-of-season bash.

Players past and present joined a host of celebrities at the exclusive Palm Sugar Lounge in Liverpool for the VIP event, hosted by modelling agency Pulse on behalf of club sponsors Carlsberg.

Professional freestyle footballers and a Brazilian samba drumming band entertained the hundreds of fans waiting outside for a glimpse of their sporting heroes.

Club legends Robbie Fowler, Alan Kennedy, David Johnson and Phil Neal were spotted mingling with stunning model hostesses from Pulse.

The 300 guests, including Sugababes singer Heidi Range and Hollyoaks actress Kim Tiddy, sipped pink champagne and ate nibbles from plush Thai restaurant Chaophraya.

Red's striker Dirk Kuyt was presented with the Carlsberg Man of the Season Award by veteran Scouse actress Sue Johnson and footballing legend Willie Miller MBE.

The 30-year-old Dutch international said: "I am delighted to win this award from Carlsberg.

"They put on a great night and all my family and friends have really enjoyed themselves".

A splendid season from the man. And an amazing achievement from the manager and the team to turn it around so much.

Whatever happens now, this is a great season for us. To finish anywhere near the top after all that bollocks is brilliant..

They both went in high, that's factually correct, both tried to play the ball at height.  Doku with his foot, Mac Allister with his chest.

Yeah, I think Ayres managed to keep them on board despite them losing the shirt sponsorship, which is pretty cool IMO.
'Despite their  cup pedigree - since they've returned to the top flight in 1962 - Everton have, after today's results, once again gone further in the FA Cup than their much vaunted neighbours. For the record it's Everton 23 Liverpool 22  and 7 ties in 52 seasons'

Probably deserved, got some vital goals, we'd have struggled without him if he followed Benitez to Inter.

A gross disappointment for me, it had to be Lucas... Dirk did a lot, but he doesn't compare to Lucas IMHO.

if they are minor sponsors then the club can vary the ale they sell on matchdays ! lukewarm carlsberg in plastic bottles is a disgrace for £3.20 ! Stella, Kronenbourg or Heineken would suffice, no offence carlsberg  :wave

Agree.

He's had a decent half a season. Doesn't cover the atrociousness of his performances in the first half of the season.

Dirk and Lucas have had a pretty good season so well played to both of them!

It's not the official player of the season thing though is it? Just one of those "Carslberg lounge" things.

Fair enough them giving him this when Lucas will get the official player of the season one. At least that was my impression.

Is this the official unofficial Liverpool FC player of the season award? If this one goes to Dirk then the official official award should go to Lucas!
